Chp. 2
Beginnings.
Voices...
In the endless dark.
Growing closer.
"Eh Man!"
My eyes flew open. There was a blast of bright midday sun. I shielded my face, but had to but down my arm because of the pain in my chest.
Silloueted against the sun was a figure.
"Can you hear me boy?"
"Eh...iya....ya...." I trailed off. It was too hard to talk.
The figure motioned to the left.
"We got a live one!'
Two medics rushed over and pulled me onto the flat ground. They started working on my mangled leg.
I could see the figure now. He was old, I could tell, and his skin was a faded color.
The medics made a shoddy makeshift brace for my leg so I could be moved. The old man hoisted me onto his shoulders. He was suprisingly strong. And blind, I could tell by his eyes.
We began to walk towards the large transport De Ro'lin.
I looked around at the ground.
"Its not right is it." I said. " A war over so little, for so much.."
The old man nodded.
"You will see much." he started before I could continue.
"In the misty reality, gripping the needed is not always easy."
"There is no one other than you, but everyone else is thier own."
"The innsomniacs dream is unfurled, and tides of old are being cast out." "Do not seek what you desire, for your desire may not be there." "in the darkness of the void, these words may hold the only truth you know."
I didnt really understand any of this, but I held back my confusion. We had reached the transport. The creatures back unfolded, reavealing a room for several soldiers to be moved.
The old man helped me ungainily into the back. I sat down near the end.
"What is your name.."I asked.
The old man smiled and backed up. The transport began to rumble forward. He waved to me.
"Whats your name!" I yelled.
He didnt answer. A large dust cloud kicked up right behind the transport, and when the dust cleared, the old man was gone.
The back of the transport shut, plunging I and about a dozen other soldiers into semi-darkness.
I leaned my head back, shut my eyes, and fell into dreams.
