Arrow I think I know why we are not getting any news yet on the next game!

Ok I think I know why we are not getting any news on Oddworlds next game yet and that is because they are keeping it top secret go here and read this interview at oddworld.com and click on inhabitants interview. But pay close attention to the last question. www.oddworld.com/ow_frameset.html

It asks (Can you tell us anything about the new game or what you are working on?)

answer(At the moment I am working on collission/contact detection. We are in top secret mode I really can't disclose any details about the new game THE END.)

OWI are going to be very secretive about Munch's Exoddus, and quite rightly, too. As pointed out in Alcar's Problems in General Discussion, Munch's Oddysee was a disappointment to many fans because of the vast amounts of stuff we were looking forward to - but never got. From Meetles, Mugs and Mudflubs to security cameras, Sam and the Shrink, the prolonged promotion of MO gave ample time to create a hype too big to live up to - by revealing too much too early on, OWI were biting off more than they could chew.

That's why expectation never really fell short for the the first two games - very little of what was removed from AO and AE was actually advertised beforehand. Now OWI are keeping very quiet, not letting us onto much until they really do have to - and good for them.

I am glad they are haveing everything in secret because you are right Max The Mug, too much too soon can ruin everything. So I hope they keep everything hush hush!

Yeh, but we're expecting all the stuff that got cut out of MO to be in ME so if they dont put that in then the peeps who buy it are gonna be disappointed...again.

I hope that Splinterz returns in ME; I remember this cool video where muds were gathering wood and putting it into a recycler attached to a massive Splinterz while large planes flew over head.
I also miss the slig toss 1.

The reason we don't have any information about Munch's Exoddus is obvious. Think about how much information OWI told us about MO and then think about how many people stopped liking (or at least got mad at) oddworld when some of the stuff they had been told would be in MO wasn't. OWI can't risk that happening again. So it is basically our fault that they have told us nothing about ME.

P.S. Actually we do know that the next game will be about the gabbits that hatched from the gabbiar. I remeber someone from OWI (I forget who) hinting this in an interview. When asked about the next game he said something to the effect of, "Remember the gabbit eggs Munch got at the end of MO? That's all I can say right now." It is pretty obvious what he ment by that. We also can be pretty confident that we will see Sam in the next game. So we do know a little.

Other snippets have also been released: in one of David O'Conner's later designer diaries, he specifically said that we'd get to see some familar creatures up close in Munch's Exoddus, specifically the Sligs.

True, we are all expecting it. But then again, OWI have never actually told us they're going to include it in ME, so we wouldn't quite have the same excuse that time round.

True. Personally i think that OWI should ask us what we would like to see. They dont have to say "Sure, we'll include that." but just take in our ideas and see if they would work out. Not storylines of course but characters etc. Its good to have a Games Company that actually speak to their consumers. Unfortunatly not many companys do this...especially not Eidos (Damn you Eidos) I dont think they do anyways...anyone got their email address?
