re: scrapping rpg

i think we should start afresh. i think a major problem with the rpg has been the stats, which seem to have led certain characters to treat it as a competition to get the most stats, rather than just a bit of fun, making stories.

i must also confess, i don't like the person that the rpg seems to be turning into. i don't want to be thought of as 'the anal-retentive guy who tries to run the rpg', but i know that's how you all think of me. i mean, as you know from fan corner and general discussion, i'm not that bad really, am i? i think the reason i act like this is that, when the rpg became a competition, it acquired rules, and i instinctively tried to ensure people obeyed them. i must apologise [in varying degrees] to dh, dakkan, and oryon. sorry, guys.

i think we should run the rpg more like the add-ons in the fan corner. in fact, i think the rpg forum should just be a collection of add-ons. this would be good for a number of reasons:

since individual stories would be told in single posts, there would be no more cross purposes.

i notice that we all seem to have different aims in the rpg. me and darksider, for example, seem to want to tell more serious stories, whereas people like dh seem to want a more comic atmosphere. with several different rpgs going on, everyone would be able to indulge in their own creative talent without having to break the atmosphere of other people's.

basically, i think we would all have a lot more fun this way. you've seen the popularity of add-ons in the fan corner, and here we would have them all, collected together. for now, i will continue to play as we are, but i ask that you consider what i've said. if you agree or disagree, post so here.

Even though i still am a little peeved at DH, I still like his idea. I think that would be a lot simpler than just scrapping the RPG in general. Now, don't get any ideas that we're friends DH, cause we arent, i still don't like you i just think your idea was good.

i think that if we scrap the stats it should be now, since Pyke has been burned down, and the shops [which only served to enforce the stats] with it.

i also think that we should do as DH tried to do earlier, and pause the RPG. while it's paused, we should have a sort of roll-call, to check up on which characters are still playing, and where they are. in fact, post the roll-call here. i'll start:

Rettick: With Salkin in the forest near Mudokona, recovering from a fight with some Slogs.

Anyway Spider is where DH said...in Bladewings ship (though that is about to change...unless this is really paused...if it is Ill hold off until we figure this all out). I'm not planning on bringing Cili back, but I was planning on Drag doing one or two post appearences....good enough?

edit: BTW...it doesn't really matter to me whether we just scrap the stats or just do a bunch of add-ons for now on. (thats the neutral part of me talking...agh). My views on both:
Scrapping the Stats: would lead to a lot less confusion (at least in my case) and the so called 'I have to be the most powerful guy/girl around' bit...grrr (yes my characters do have so rather powerful abilities (spider will be added to that soon *grin*), they all have limitions, but thats just me)
Add-ons: like Rett said, it would lead to less clashes with writing styles (hmm plus i could probably restart that 'Heart of Oddworld' add on that died in the Fan corner...), and in case you didn't notice...i write both serious and comical *grin*

Hmmm i am certainly grinning alot today...*shrugs* oh well *grin*

If we do scrap the RPG i personally think that that would make it easy 4 peeps to contribute. Cos i found that there were loadsa peeps in a number 'o' places. I spose we cud carry on if evry 1 wants 2. N e wayz if we do scrap it i will make my creatures intro again, they can be like a little more sinister. N e wayz i dont care wot happens.
