The meaning of life-what do you think it it is?

Yes what do you think the meaning of life is?
I think its not how long you live but how well and happy you live.

Also to put two topics in one Who do you think built the pyramids?I Think aliens (well it's possible)built them because if humans can't build them now with all this technology how could they build them back then.

Meaning of life: My theory is adapted from something I read in The Selfish Gene.
Live as long as you can reproduce. Reproduce as much as possibble. Try your best to keep the ability to reproduce.
Well, that's what our genes tell us to do. (Sorry genes)

Pyramids: I don't think it likely that aleins built them because there is no evidence for them being here at all. But if people had enough effort to make them they would do.
I feel that effort and ability synergise to produce outcome (got that one from AV/Out, E105).
Effort x Ability = Outcome
So even if the ancient Egyptions weren't as strong as 20 JCBs they could still do it.

*puts 2 cents in jar*
Oh, wait, those are pennies. Ahh well.

Tom is right in that's what genes 'tell' us to do... all genes 'care' about (be careful not to take that too literally; genes can't think) is themselves, even if it's at the expense of other genes they share their host with, or even if it's at the expense of the host itself. As Richard Dawkins puts it, "that is why we love life and love sex and love children." It is beneficial to our genes if we like things that are good for us and dislike things that are bad for us. That is why we dislike pain (which could kill us, and thus our genes, which they don't 'want'), and enjoy sex (which creates copies of our genes and spreads them, which is what they 'want').

However, humans tend not to think of themselves in those terms, and most of us distance ourselves from associations from our genes. Many people don't even like the idea of us being 'slaves' to little chromosomes, mitochondria and cistrons.

Personally, I go with Dave Lister's theory on the meaning of life:
"The meaning of life is to experience everything you can. Remember, life is not a rehearsal. At least, I hope it's not. I'd hate to have to go through all this crap six times a week and twice on Saturdays."

Edit: on th pyramids... experts say that it was possible for the ancient Eygptian dudies to build them; it would have just taken them a long time. Apparently, records say that the Great Pyramid of Khufu took ten years to build.

Thankee, TF.
I knew that was in there somewhere, I just couldn't remember where.

Oh, and the reason I, like many others, don't do what my genes tell me to the last protein pair is that I have a powerful brain (although some forumers may disagee with me *cough*Pinky*cough*calls everyone stupid*cough*).
It's like with A for Andromada, as TF will well know.

So, the meaning of life is *points up* that, but what you do is up to you, well, your brain.

the meaning of life is 42.

the pyramids were built by the romans (scott adams reason for why pyramids were pointy: contrary to popular belief they weren't pointy because marketers believed that pyramids sounded like something pointin but it was because the pharoes just told the engineers how high it should be and how big the base is and if they pharoe ever popped by and happend to notice that his special guest room was 2" square they'd just drop a rock on him)

Why should I have to use evidence to back up something I made up on the spot?

It would take a heck of a lot of men to lift a pyramid rock they weigh tonnes and it's very good craftsmanship too get it really smooth like they are and to build it up really high.

I think passing on your genes is a part of the meaning of life I think also that you should go where you want to go see what you want to see and do what you want to do because you only get one chance at life. Unless reincarnation is real.

I don't think there is a meaning to life. What happens, happens. What you do, is what you do. You should live your life however you want and not let others tell you to go out and make the most of things. It's about what makes you happy.

Personally I'm going to work hard enough to keep a comfortable lifestyle and make the woman/women of my life happy and hopefully breed a decent child or two. In between all that I want to have as much fun as possible. And I mean everything, entertainment, sex, traveling, discovery, adventures...

So if you sit around your house all day and play games or twiddle your thumbs don't let others tell you you're wasting your life. It's YOUR life and as long as you're content with that then do as you please. And if you aren't happy with twiddling your thumbs then DO something about it.

The meaning of life was a conspiriacy thought up of by a bunch of egg head scientists at NASA to make people sit around and kill off brain cell's trying to think of what it is.
And I'm suprised only one person has said 42.. but to those of you who did, what's the question of life Mr. Hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy?

Life, is u'r existence from the time you are born until the time u die, i guess the actual meaning of life is to live it happyily and Fore fill u'r dreams in life, then i guess u die, but u die knowing u have done everything u had ever dreamed.
