I just thought I'd let all you Amricans know what sort of a President you have...

This is not stupid in the sense he usually is, but it is in every other sense.

I used to think that Dubya being killed may disrupt the US, but now, I don't see any reason why Dubya shouldn't be killed in some sort of accident (along with Pat Robinson and Jerry Falwell, not to mention the rest of the right-wing).

I know what you mean. That wasn't the smartest thing he could of said. What about the ppl who believe in Buddha or Allah or anything else? They don't believe in God, yet they are equal citizens none the less.

I don't exactly wish him death, but a violent removing from power would answer a lot of the problems with the world today... As long as he was replaced by someone different... Politicians on both sides of the Atlantic are increasingly becoming All the Same...

The chances are pretty good that he will be killed. You see, every president that has been elected on one of the twenty-year incremental terms since the "Trail of Tears" has died. I forget which one, but the predsident in office that forced all of the Indians to move west on what was called the Trail of Tears has died. It is said that the indians put a curse on the country, so that every 20 years that an election is held, the president will die. This has held true since The indians were forced off of their land in 1838. The presidents that were in office during 1840, 1860, 1880, 1900, 1920, 1940, and 1960 have all died while in office. The only exception is 1980- but that president did come close to dying. Now it's Bush's turn in 2000. Will he make it?

I was always fascinated by the Lincoln/Kennedy parallels:

Kennedy had an aide named Lincoln; Lincoln had an aide named Kennedy.

Kennedy's assassin shot him from a warehouse and fled to a theater; Lincoln's shot him in a theater and fled to a warehouse (OK, a barn, close enough

)

I'm pretty sure that there were several others I can't remember.

*sigh* long story...you can enlist into one of the four branches of the military here for 4 or 6 year enlistments. I enlisted right out of high school (cause I didn't knwo what else to do with myself at the time...didn't see any colleges I wanted to go to) for a 4 years. When that was up I reenlisted for another 4 years (which I feel was a mistake...oh well can't change the past...).
Compulsive or choice? a bit of both. There are more details about it but I don't feel like typing it out. Besides...we are going waayyy off-topic here...

I like the romans idea you sign up for 25 years (long time I know) half your wages go into your retirement fund (seven sesterii a week I think) so you end up retireing with 41062 sesterii or 10265 denarii and a huge chunk of land.

I don't think this Zero Year Curse is scary, it seems more like a grain on hope to me...

The scary thing is that someone this stupid can become president just because he's rich - if that's all there is to it, what is there to stop some total bastard getting in? If someone like Hitler were elected president, NOBODY in the world is going to stand up to him any more than they stand up to Bush. Now THAT's scary!

I share your horror with the prospect of Pat Robertson becoming the president, but I think it's overstating the situation to say that he "nearly" got into power. He really never had a chance.

I didn't vote for Bush and he's far from my favorite politician, but I really don't think he's a "far right extremist." Yes, he's out there, but he's really not in the same league as the Robertson/Falwell/Pat Buchanan types. W is more like Reagan, and we survived that guy, even though he bankrupted the country.

if hitler ran for president he WOULD win he was extremly charasmatic and that alone would get him the presidency of course he wouldn't mention killing and the such the way he was able to do it is boiling a frog

ok if your refering to "boiling a frog" the statement comes from the fact that if you try boiling a frog by putting it into boiling water it will just jump out but if you slowly heat the water it will stay in and alow itself to be killed(I've never tried this myself and hope I never do) so it is changing things slowly and nobody notices anything until it's too late.
