Munch's Oddysee Mobile and upgraded PC version announced.

The mobile version of Munch’s 3D platforming adventure is being made by our friends at Square One Games. That Vancouver studio previously made the excellent mobile version of Stranger’s Wrath, so we couldn’t be happier to know that Munch is in very safe hands.

Once Square One Games are finished making this mobile version, they intend going back and using it to renew the PC version of the game currently available on Steam, improving that version of the game too. It’s our intention to make this updated version freely available to anyone who has the existing version of Munch’s Oddysee in their Steam library.

We’ll be showing Munch’s Oddysee on mobile to press at E3 in a week’s time so hopefully soon you’ll be able to see some early impressions of it and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as development continues.

Also, I thought there was already an MOHD on consoles. Why can't that one get ported to PC? Unless this version is going to be better...

My completely random guess is that there are currently about four or five different versions of the MO codebase floating around, and each version of MOHD is currently built from a different one and they’re all incompatible with one another. Square One are probably being brought in to develop new ports from the ‘best’ version.

That was the plan. But I think they ran into problems with the port + the focus shifted all entirely onto NnT. So it was held back.

The original port was outsourced and apparently didn't go well. So now they're starting from some level of scratchedness with a different company.

I remember when I bought Munch's Oddysee I decided I wasn't going to play it until it got the HD upgrade I'd heard about. I'm pretty sure this was a couple of years ago, but the upside is I've gone another two years without playing Munch's Oddysee.

Wil did mention 2 titles will be announced at E3 by OI. I'd pull up a quote but the pigeons in the lines have caused a F32 power failure in my alt key.

that's a class 3 power failure. I don't need to say anymore.

taking bets, im gonna go on a limb here and say Fangus was being made in the pipe line of Stranger HD and will be announced. going full stupid on this post.

Read the article, the company doing the iOS port is also doing the HD update.

So that's gonna be Abe's Exoddus HD and Munch HD for mobile. I highly doubt there are any other major projects in the work for OWI atm. Certainly nothing as big as a completely new IP.

I was just wondering since they mentioned "updated version" rather than HD version. I just assumed it would be the HD update after reading it, Manco, but was just wondering if there's anything behind avoiding saying "Munch's Oddysee HD" will be coming to PC.

Is there one possibility that this version will have the italian-spanish-french-german languages support ?

Lorne Lanning or anyone for JAW please listen to me! (Like that ever worked) Munch's Oddysee did a few good things and i'm gonna list them for you now. It Introduced Munch, Vykkers, Interns, Fuzzles and Lulu. That's pretty much it i'm afraid and rebooting or porting it is not what many lovers of Oddworld want. I'm not going to buy it again because it wont give me those few good things a mentioned any more and the game itself is not a good game, sorry to say. It wasn't good back when it first came out 11 years ago and that will not change no matter how shiny you make it or giving us a smaller screen to play it on. I know it's hard work and I know it costs a lot of money but will you please make us a new game? Like, an actual brand new game? Then you can have my money and we'll all be so much happier!

He's not wrong though. The characters in Munch's Oddysee made that game for me. Everything else sub par at best.
