New game ideas

With oddworld back in business and new games imminent I was wondering what you guys wanted in future oddworld releases.
Do you want a side scroller like the original abe games ?
What type of story do you want? Etc, etc
I would personally like a games that looks, plays and feels like the first two games. Maybe a bridge between abes exodus and munches oddysee? Something that shows what happens to big face. Maybe raisin is rescued whilst abe is saving mudokens? Tell me your ideas !

2D or 2.5D side scroller. New storyline, not bothered if it features Munch as long as Abe is the main character again. A bridge between Abe's Exoddus and Munch's Oddysee would be fine although I suspect any new storyline could probably fit anywhere into the chronology quite comfortably if it didn't have too much baggage.

OI remaking the first two games would be dumb as the first two games are just PERFECT as they are. We want new stories around abe with the classic scenery, gameplay, ambience, and all.

I want to see Abe's smiling mug at the title screen in a new game. That alone would score a star in my opinion. I would like to see either: some more complex puzzles, like in the first two games, but not neccesarily in 2D or 2.5D, or: an FPS remniscent of the way SW handled it. Similar to any other FPS, yet different.

They've just rereleased AO and AE for the PC on Steam. It wouldn't make much business sense to do a remake at this point.

And for the majority of us who are fans of the series, it wouldn't be as interesting as a new game either, as we have played AO and AE for years.

Come on guys, HD remakes of AO/AE would be cool, but new stuff should take priority.

So the next Quintology game or Fangus?

I honestly couldn't decide between these.
I think I'd prefer them to put out an "extra" game first before continuing the Quintology. Get them back into the Odd groove, you know?

If it came down to a new Quintology game or Fangus, I'd vote for Fangus. There are already levels and character animations, probably more. Gives them a head start, and it'd probably have more mainstream appeal.

I guess I'd also like to see a Stranger's Wrath sequel - I think there's still some loose threads at the end of that game that deserve to be tied up.

I want Fangus only if it actually is set in Oddworld, and as per Lorne's vision; that is, not having the characters be too humanlike.

I think as jaw is still only pretty small a game like fangus might be a bit ambitious for them at the moment. I think a side scroller might be easier to make. And quicker lol .
But then again I suppose they already have experience with 3d games remakeing stranger and all. Hmmm .

Oh and fangus should deffffo be set in oddworld. Not some crappy planet with gangsta cats, etc :-/

Except that a) since characters have already been modelled, they'd have to be re-modelled to make them Oddworldy enough to be Oddworlian, and b) gangster cats was part of the original Oddworld premise.

EDIT: By which I mean the original premise of Fangus while it was indisputably set on Oddworld.

I still think the cats should go. Unless ofcourse the cats are altered to only slighlty resemble cats in the same way paramites only slightly resemble spiders, or in the same way stranger only slightly resembles a deer/lion. You know , make them odd.I think the more earthly, animal inhabitants (chicken people) are a bit lazy. They dont really tie in well with oddworld if you know what I mean.
I want an oddworld game ! And i want it odd! Lol.

I don't know, they have moved their offices and have been recruiting in the last few months. We have no idea what their size is at the moment.

And I assume chicken people are in SW? I recently downloaded it on Steam, but haven't had the chance to play it—yet. I do agree that it sounds somewhat laughable, along with cat gangsters, but I trust Lorne.

Jaw is the company that is porting Stranger's Wrath for the pc and ps3. They are also the ones who are planning to do future oddworld games.

I too hope for a 2.5d game, it's faster and probably for the best. However, a 3d may be more profitable but also more expensive to make. If they feel up to it, i could see it, but i would expect more than what we saw with munch. I'm not really talking about the graphics which were good enough for me but for the controls which are horrible. For me, an ideal 3d game should have controls like ubisoft's prince of persia games

well i heard on facebook, that the next oddworld game will feature our favourite hero, and come on, we all know who that is dont we? i just hope its a 2.5d side-scrolller, and without munch, im not too fond of him.

Perhaps an RTS but with RPG themes thrown in, and not like full scale all out war like AOE or the first DOW, a team tactical involving skill, strategy, level up and things like hiding units in shadows. Would be fun for me at least.
