What I want to see from Oddworld

Dont know if anything like this has been posted before since I'm new here, But what I want to see is both AO and AE come in, maybe special edition package, all re-rendered in high resolution, everything touched up, more details, and better looking models for all the game play.
Every time I play these games I'm disappointed to not be able to see the amazing artwork and characters clearly.
Who else think this should be done? or am I on my own here...

Is it even possible to do that? Just how high is the resolution of the original renderings?

It would be lovely to have this, but I’d really rather OWI keep working an their bigger and better things. It’s taking them long enough as it is.

I'd buy it...

I expect that's the kind of things we could eventually see when they will release the Oddworld Movie. At least I hope

Yes, the first Oddworld movie is to come some time after CS. CS is planned for 2009.

Of course, everything in the games is 3ds max/ maya images, then can load up all the old files and re-render them

What have either of these topics got to do with this thread? Keep on topic, please.

The last projection was 2010.

Personally, I feel that both the game and the movie are going to be failures.

Lorne Lanning has made one giant mistake after another, and I don't think this is the way he's going to redeem himself.

SW wasn't a mistake; it was a bloody good game. Going to EA - now that was a mistake.

Excuse Max if I went off topic, but now I need an information about this argument: can OWI show us new pictures of Citizen Siege now? We know only the logo picture but not others. So, can OWI do it?

He would be if he wasn't doing anything at the moment...
But the man is working really hard and has at least 3 big projects running at this time

and to Abe is now... how should we know?

That's a pretty good example of what makes him arrogant. Instead of spreading himself [and his poor team] thin, why not commit to only one project? I know that a lot of companies work on multiple projects at a time, but OWI is already a bit notorious for being overly-ambitious.

Plus, what really irks me is that he said the company was not going to be making video games anymore and just left all of the fans in the lurch. Whether he felt this was some clever marketing idea, or he just realized how stupid the idea was, it was pretty arrogant to turn his back on the majority of his fans and assume that we'd stick around and wait for a couple of years without hearing anything.

Oddworld has always been a special thing to me. I've enjoyed every game they've released, including MO. I guess that's why Lorne's actions do nothing but rub me the wrong way.

He didn't leave video games. Oddworld became an IP machine to churn out Oddworld and other properties. They then outsource development to other companies, under direction, to produce more than they did before. Right now, it is the films that are the big projects. But they will be accompanied by video games made under the same direction.

The problem with OWI is probably mostly financial. The video game market isn't as big as the film one, though it's growing. Considering the amount of money OWI puts into what they do, the income that does result doesn't give them masses to work with in comparison to huge companies like EA, Nintendo etc. So obviously things are going to be difficult. They were obviously having problems after SW, so they decided to change the plan. With the money they had, it would be more practical to to be an IP machine as BM said than for the company to program it's own games and all itself, as then they have to put more work and money in for what essentially may not be that different an effect, as since the main point of Oddworld is getting the story and views out, then spending less money on programming etc. and spending more of this on development of characters and story makes more sense to them.

Well too late, they changed almost everything...

Except maybe the story itself
