Oddworld: The last struggle

Yes, yet another fan fic. I got bored so I decide to write one. Read it if you're interested, or don't. I don't really care. By the way, the events in this fan fic take place after the events of MO. I'll probably start making sense eventually. Here's chapter one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter one: "A rough night"

I just lay there on the cold, metal table. I couldn't move, and I couldn't speak; I don't even think I was breathing anymore. The Vykker surgeon was looking at me. I could read the fear on his face. He was panicking.

"Sir it's not working! I'm losing him!" he yelled.

"Try harder! We don't have much time, the enemy is breaking through." an older Vykker responded. "Sergeant, send your troops to the main gate and don't let anyone through for Odd's sake! As for you" he turned to the young surgeon, "hook him up to the machine before it's too late. Forget about saving him, let the machine gather the information we need from him and let's get the hell out of here."

The Vykker pushed the table I was on next to a large machine. He hooked it up to my head and that's when things started getting wierd. I saw quick images flshing thorugh my mind and loud noises.

Then I woke up screaming, that was the second time in a week. I was really getting worried. I stood up and shook my head. There was a loud bang on my door and a slig guard came in.

"Get up you mudokkon scum! Dr Glukson wants to see you, report to his office now." he said in the typical angry slig voice and left.

I was actually happy that I had to see Glukson, he was the only slig psychologist, but he was also the nicest slig I knew, and a good friend of mine.

END OF CHAPTER

I'm sorry if that was a bit confusing. Feel free to point out mistakes or offer some criticism.

It sucks.

Just kidding. No, it seems to have some potential. So, what, a mudokon slave is having premonitions of a fight soon to come? One going on? Or just a random dream about an imaginary field-medic in a fictional warzone that will turn out to have no actual bearing on the story whatsoever?

I dunno, I wasnt actually putting any effort into the storyline, I'm just trying to get my post count up :P. Anyway that was just a dream the slave had. It will connect to the storyline, but that was just the first chapter.

P.S oh yeah, before i forget, thanks Arxryl.

Chapter 2: "Headache"

Glukson, glukson.... what a strange name for a slig. I started thinking about a lot of things as I made my way to the elveator to his office. It would take at least twenty minutes to get there from my little room, because the Elite Slig Barracks was made a huge complex made up of many buildings. I never left my building, the only glimpse I could get of the outside world was through a small window in one of the corridors, or by listening to other slaves' stories. Although, I had seen a bit of the outside world in my recent dreams....well nightmares.

Everything was so bizzare in my life. For one thing, I didn't know my own name, I was simply known as Slave 046. My earliest memory was waking up in a medical room. Recently I've been wondering if I had a life before I woke up in that damn medical room.

I arrived at the elevator, only to find two sligs brutally beating a mudokkon slave. One of the sligs turned around and looked me straight in the eye. Even though he was wearing a mask, I could sense the scorching hatred within him.

"What the hell are you looking at?" he asked furiously. "If you're here to see Glukson just get on the elevator. And keep your mouth shut."

I decide not to cause any trouble and go up, peacefully. I entered Glukson's office and sat down. I always felt safe and secure in there for some reason. His office was at the top a surveillance tower so it was basically in the sky. It was a large, round office with large windows everwhere. He had a lot of old weapons and strange looking objects from his war days. He told me he was a grea soldier once, but that's all he says to me. He doesn't talk about the war much, or anything about my past.

"Hello 046. Good to see you again." he said in a sharp, but calming voice. "I've been getting reports that you scream in your sleep and disturb everyone else. Is that true?"

"Yes sir. I've been having strange dreams and one of them in particular keeps repeating itself."

"Is that so?" Glukson responded awkwardly. He look pretty nervous. "what kind of dreams?"

"War. Killing. Chaos. These aren't normal dreams. I've been thinking about...things recently." I said keeping a close eye on the doctor. "Did I have a life before I woke up in that medical centre? You can't honestly expect me to believe that I was born there, I was about 32 years old when that happened. And why do all the sligs recognize me? And why do they hate so much?"

"Look, uh, certain things happened, but that was a long time ago. It's irrelevant." I could tell that Glukson was getting really worried. "I suggest you see the Vykkers, they'll give you a brain scan."

"You're lying, I can tell. You know there's a connection between the war 10 years ago and my dreams. You were there, tell me what happened. TELL ME!" I yelled angrily at him.

Dr Glukson started walking backwards and steping on things. I got up abruptly.

"Calm down Ben- I mean 046. Look, we've been friends for a long time. If I tell you anything I'll be dead within hours. You don't know what they'll do to me!"

I grabbed him by the neck and approached the window.

"Why did you call me Ben? Who am I? Tell me or so help me Odd, I will throw you through this window and you'll fall for hours. NOW-" I stopped suddenly and fell to the ground. I couldn't breathe, and I couldn't speak... again. Everything was silent, and then I started hearing the gunfire again, like I did in my dream. Then the screaming started, and the noises of the industrial machines. Then everything went black.

END OF CHAPTER

I hope that explained more, or just made it more confusing :P

Chapter 3: "The last meeting"

"Get up Ben. I know you're strong enough to recover from a black-out" I herad Glukson's throaty voice. My vision was still pretty blurry but I could make out his figure. As I completely regained consciousness, I noticed I was back in my small cell.

I got up and looked straight at Glukson. My anger had completely...faded away. A strange feeling.

"I'm sorry Glukson, for what happened in your office. I don't know what came over me. I just felt this enormous amount of fury and insanity just...pouring into me. I couldn't control myself, it's like this powerful force took control of me completely. You know I'm not capable of killing you, you have to-"

"I know, I know" he said soflty trying to calm me down. "It's perfectly normal, after what you've been through."

I sat down on my rusty, small bed and sighed.

"What happened after I collapsed?" I asked

"A few slig guards came up to see what was going on, nothing too serious. I told them you had a sever panic attack and I volunteered to take you back here. Now, I need to talk to you about something else; I'm afraid that the, ahem, Glukkon Administrator, is considering...um...."terminating" you because you may know too much." Glukson explained in an uneasy voice.

I wasn't very shocked when he told me. I always had a feeling that the sligs were waiting for an excuse to kill me. I had to get out of the Elite Slig Barracks as soon as I could.

"Now, I need to tell you a couple of things, so listen to every word I say" Glukson said quietly. He looked at the security orb floating above us for a few seconds. "I need to talk to Slave 046 privately, so wait outside until I give you permission to come back in." he said looking at the security orb.

The orb beeped curiously and its large red "eye" flashed repeatedly. It floated out the door and waited outside patiently. Glukson closed the door and sat down on an old box.

"Okay, I know you want answers and I have them. I'll tell you all you need to know, but not here, and not now. The Elite Slig barracks consists of five main buildings: A-Block, B-Block, where we are right now, C-Block, the main training facility, and the weapon warehouse. The weapons warehouse is a huge building where all the weapons, armours, equipment and all the other stuff is stored."

This was all very interesting but I didn't know where it was going.

"Wait, wait. Why are you telling me all this?" I asked curiously.

"I want to meet you in the weapons warehouse. I'll get you to deliver a couple of crates of weapons to the warehouse and I'll talk to you there. Now, it's extremely important that you get to the warehouse tonight, because we don't have much time to waste. I'm going to...take care of some...buisness now. I'll tell some one to come get you later. I suggest you get some rest now." he said and rushed off.

This was great, I finally had a chance to leave my building and maybe see the outside world. The only problem was getting to the warehouse safely. I didn't trust the slig guards. I decided to get some sleep; I was going to need it.

No need to aplogize. Anyway Ch4!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 4: "A delivery gone wrong"

"Hey! Open up!" I heard a voice in the darkness. "I said open up!" The voice got louder and I woke up suddenly. Someone was banging on my door. It was probably the slig that Glukson sent for me. I stood up looking around and waiting for my eyes to get used to the light again. I started walking slowly towards the door, still half-asleep.

"Open the door you lazy slave! Don't make me come in there!" the slig yelled getting more impatient.

"Shut up! I'm comin'." I responded wearily.

I tried moving the rusted handle but it was stuck. After many pointless attempts to turn it, it fell off, bouncing on the ground and making annoying noises.

"Please don't tell the handle broke off" the slig said in a frustrated voice. "For Odd's sake, this is the second time today! This place is falling appart. Stand back, scum" he said and shot the door open. I didn't really care because I wanted to escape that night anyway, so I wouldn't be returning to my crappy cell.

I examined the slig that stood before me. He was tall and he was wearing silver and black armour which covered his entire body. He was obviously an elite, or a war veteran.

"Are you going to stand there all day and look at me?" he asked rhetorically and coughed heavily. I picked up one of the crates of weapons to see how heavy it was. It felt very light, even...empty. What was Glukson trying to pull off? He probably thought he could outsmart all the sligs by transfering a bunch of empty boxes to the warehouse.

"I guess I better get to work then" I said and faked a smile. "Just out of curiosity, what's in these boxes?"

"Um, Glukson said it's a couple of new assault rifles, really high-tech stuff. He gave me specific order not to look in these boxes so it's probably really important that you deliver these safely. Just head down to Station 4B, through the detention area and the maintainence centre. There's a small train waiting for you at the station. Now go, and hurry up!" the slig said and left talking to himself.

I left immediately after he did. I wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. I walked down corridors and corridors. The elite baracks were a maze, I mean with all the sectors and buildings and stockyards. I found it almost impossible to find the detention area since all the corridors looked the same; very wide, and with a tall ceiling. And there were small mudokon cells left and right.

After countless hours of wandering around through abandoned corridors, I had finally reached the Detention Area; a very disturbing scene. The detention area only had two entrances which were well-protected by slig patrols. Fortunately they let me enter without any trouble. The detention area was a huge, circular room. There were slaves everywhere, either cleaning walls, getting beaten brutally by sadistic guards, or sitting behind bars and going insane.

I wish I could help them, but it wasn't the right time, so I kept pushing the cart with "precious weapons" on it. As I left the detention area I started thinking about what one of the slaves was talking about a few weeks ago. I think it was Slave 005, one of the war veterans. I met with him in secret to talk about the war. He didn't give any details, but he said that he fought the sligs on the frontline with someone he called "The Crusader". The Crusader was apparently one of the most heroic figures in Mudokon history. Before he could tell em more, he was shot in the back by slig who overheard him talking about the war.

I had finally reached the large metal doors of the Maintainance Centre when a small, skinny slig blocked my way.

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked.

"I'm taking some weapons to the warehouse. I need to go through here to get to Station 4B" I responded in a monotone voice.

"Oh, the transfer authorized by Glukson? I'm gonna have to open up one of those crates and have a look at the merchendise".

This wasn't good, the crates were empty, I couldn't let the slig find out.

"NO! I mean, he gave me specific orders not to open these crates" I said quickly.

"I don't care, now get out of my way before I do something harsh" the slig said, approaching me.

"Wait, wait. Ok, let me open the crate for you" I said and picked up a crate. I placed it near the slig's feet and took the lid off. "Wow will you look at that?" I said, trying to get the slig to look inside. He bent down to get a better look and I kneed him in the face as hard as I could. The small slig flew back and hit the wall, knocking the rifle out of his hands. He tried to grab it, but I grabbed him by the neck quickly.

This was my chance for revenge, finally. I lifted the slig off the ground, by his neck, and tightened my grip. I couldn't help myself, the rage was taking control of me again. I look the slig in the eye as he struggled and gave him an evil smile. I was about to do the unimaginable, when I heard a voice behind the maintainance door.

"What's going on out there? What's all that noise Derek?"I heard a voice inside. I had to hide, quickly. I dropped the slig and looked around. The only place I could go was back, or through the door, but each way was surely suicide. I decided to sqeueeze through a small vent, which wasn't a very good thing, because I started falling...
