Oddworld that nightmarish day

Dear Alf,
How have you been?.
It was on that nightmarish day(2005 March 30),then you was away on an endless journey.
But I did not believe that. I have been visiting your Rehab and Tea ever since.
I hoped time will take the edge off my sorrow, but I have not been feeling well.
To make matters worse,my nerves is going to be on edge more.....

Sincerely yours

atusiya's father...

I really don't think he'll return to read this. Even if OWI does dig itself out of the hole they're in and Alf returns; this topic will long have vanished into the depths of the forum.

Sadly I have to agree with SS...
I don't think Alf visits us anymore, OWI is now hard searching to achieve their vision and I doubt they have time for us here.

Speaking of their latest vision, does anyone find it strange that we haven't heard anything by now?
Maybe the year's just going by slowly for me, but didn't Ray tell us it'd be an "eventful year?" Was he talking about "eventful," as in getting info out there to the fans, or did he mean that it would just be eventful for him?

In all honesty, I don't think OWI will be successful in their plight to make a movie. I mean, I'm hoping like hell, but I don't think their games have had nearly the amount of success needed to branch into filmmaking.
OWI has a tendency to start projects they never finish, or change the project into something entirely different. If anything comes out of this, it will likely be another game, I think that's a more noble path than trying to squeeze a movie out of a dry well (thanks a fucking heap, EA). At least with another game in the works, they have a shot at repaving their road to success which will inevitabley lead them into the movie industry with a well-rounded, popular adventure game under their belt.
I just think Lorne has a problem with waiting that long, and that's going to drag OW down even lower. We saw the Fangus concept, Lorne was scrambling to rekindle success by breaking down and making a game that appealed to the gun-happy masses. Thank Odd, the game went under. Unfortunately, so did OWI.

Finally, someone agrees with my assessment of the situation. I think we are witnessing the death of Oddworld. It's unfortunate but it's probably true.

Yeah. I mean, Halo is extremely popular (hate it though I may), and now a movie is in the works.
OW has the potential of Halo, but it just doesn't have the popularity. Part of it is due to the poor advertising on EA's shoulders, and part of it is due to the ignorance of the average gamer. I'd rather OWI stick to their original ideas and designs, and try to get a kick ass advertising department, one that really brings the dark and twisted wonder that is Oddworld to your home television.
The Munch's Oddysee TV spot was great, even though the game itself was not, and it's because of that sweet slice of ad that Munch did better in the market than Stranger. Stranger has twice the potential Munch had, and if he had his own TV spot (one that wasn't shown only on a fucking gaming channel), then OWI would have the money and the gusto to make one punk-ass movie.

I can't always keep a smile and tell everything is going fine, actually I have the impression OWI is going trough a very hard phase of it's existance now, I just hope it will turn out good.
