Okay, maybe I'm dense. Maybe it's been mentioned.
But ...
look at the moon in the attached image. I know it's not really clear, but if you feel the urge to investigate, you can always pop in Abe's Oddysee.
That is certainly not a mudokon or gabbit print. I tried to enlarge and clarify the moon itself the best I could while maintaining the shape on the moon.
Any explanations/speculations?

It's hard to realy see clearly, if it was a future quintology hero's moon, that would be pretty neat.

That I believe, Dave, is a mudokon paw. There appears to have been either a fault in the digital art or a cloud is obscuring part of the palm, but yep, I'm pretty sure it's a mudokon's right paw.
Although it also looks like it could be a rabbit had on the zoom-up, but I doubt that.

This is justa little off topic, but does anyone else think that the moon may be some sort of giant story stone? I mean, whenever Abe holds his paw up to it, I feel that a new leg of the journey unfolds before him.

There was a topic about this moon a long time ago, but I can't find it now. It does look slightly palmate, but I don't think it's Abe's Moon. The ‘fingers’ are really fat, and it just isn't Mudokon-paw shaped, to be honest. It's either a random pattern (a pareidolia) or something else.

Used, I love that idea so much. The practicality of it is a bit off, though. Maybe Mudokon story stones (thinking in particular about the spherical Necrum ones, presumably older) are actually based off the moon. That might actually mean Mudokons have long had knowledge that moons are spherical bodies, not just flying disks.

Yes, why they woud come into the form of a moon though is beyond myself. Probably because they needed it to be seen wherever the savior would be. So yeah, nice, contemplative thoughts.

Lol, it's easy to see which came from Abes Oddyssee, and which from Abes Exoddus. Sure, none of them pics are ACTUALLY from Abes Oddyssee, they're the modified "flashbacks" in Abes Exoddus (The one where the fingers are roughly the same size), and the ones made specifically for AE (With the jungle of Necrum).

Dave, do you have the Japanese or rest of the world version of AO? In other words, does Abe have four or three fingers? Because if he has four fingers then we know that this can't be his moon in that version of the game.

That was a point I was going to make. This ‘three-fingered’ design appears on my Abe's Oddysee, in which Abe has four fingers.

Unless there are more than one mudokon-print moon, I don't know what to say about this one.
Another attached image. In a secret area, the mudokon moon is clearly visible in the background. The moon I mentioned is nearby.
I'm glad this generated such discussion. But I wish we knew.
Since I can't really make the shape terribly clear, I tried to outline and enlarge it. And I had to save it as a .gif for filesize problems. Bah.
For best results, I suggest loading up ol AO and looking for yourself.

Well the general outline of that moon seems to be the same as the four-fingered one, just that the finger on the right is not clearly visible.

You mean, OWI had to reprogram AO to fit Japan's culture? I never knew that they actually changed it, but I knew that why they cut off a finger.

Mine's was made in Canada and I have the four fingers. Or is it a North America thing?

I extremely doubt it as we know that Munch had not been designed at that stage so it's unlikely that any of the other heroes would have been.

Stranger was never part of the Quintology and as such, never meant to of been given his own moon.

Seeing as this is Abe's Oddysee, however, it could be interpreted as a four fingered moon seeing as they only edited it back to three fingers for the cutscenes. I was certain there was actually a screen in Stockyards (one of the secret areas) in which you do see Abe's moon prematurely though... perhaps I'm mistaken.

In any case, it could just be that thats some other moon entirely. Oddworld isn't limited to just two

It just looks like an ordinary moon to me , Unless the next OW character has a badly ingrown foot or hand , its not his moon.
