Anyone Watch Live 8?

I watched it until the UK coverage stopped. It was ok, most of it was pretty mediocre.
But I'm gonna say it was good as Pink Floyd easily pwned the ass out of everyone else except maybe the who. It was heart warming to see them put all the hate behind them and play together again for a good cause.

So, anyone else got something to say?

I watched it all, from the beginning to the end. It was ok I suppose, I agree with rich with The Who and Pink Floyd pwning all.

Philidelphia is on now. It sucks.
Not enough people with talent, though the Kaiser Chiefs were nice.

I liked the London one; in fact, it was awesome.

I found it amusing how every show was referenced by city name - Rome, Paris, Philidelphia, London etc. Except Toronto's, which was referenced by country name, Canada.

I camped out for 18 hours on Wednesday to get tickets. The atmosphere was awesome. My friends and I had a great time. I'm a bit skeptic about whether it will actually help raise awareness on poverty though. After all, it all rests on the shoulders of G8 summit in Gleneagles.

I didn't watch it. Load of shit. I caught a few seconds of it and changed the channel.

If these arrogant "celebrities" want to rid the world of poverty, why don't the just donate a bit of their own damn money? They've all got so many millions of dollars that if they clubbed together they'd be able to relieve a pretty substantial amount of debt and suffering, if not relieve it altogether.

Did you see the sea of lighters at the start of breathe? Amazing, such a fantastic atmosphere. They did away with all the pretence of caring about Africa that Robbie and co had. They just went and played, really calm and relaxing, you could feel the love coming from the crowd.

Magical moment when Gilmour looked at Waters when he joined in singing and they exchanged a smile, and when they all stood together at the end for the first time in 24 years. Round that off with the best live performance I've ever seen and you have a magical night.

I only watched the show for Floyd, the who and Macca. Sting surprised me by being quite enjoyable. My Dad spent most of the evening talking to me about when he saw the who live one time. I haven't got on so well with my dad for ages.

Well said Dino. I didn't watch it, as I thought exactly what Dino said and also, I wasn't terribly interested in the show anyway. I was interested in the cause it was for yes, definitely, but not the show.

I'm not a big fan of this "Make Poverty History" thing. If you want to make it History, nuke the places where there're poverty.

I didn't watch it, i saw the bit with Snoop and watched it purely to build up my feelings of resentment towards him. I loathe him. Swearing with no reason. Being sexist. Ugh. Heroine-addicted c*nt.

I doubt anything will actually come of this anyway, we've wasted billions on sodding Africa and nothing's changed.

Did you see the bit of the live 8 when Ricky Gervais came out and said "The leaders of the G8 summit have heard what we've done and have decided to cancel the debts." (or whatever it was for. I wasn't really paying any attention.) Then everyone cheered "Now you can all pick your litter up pack up all your stuff and go home." but then Ricky said he was joking then the crowd just went silent.
When i heard about that i pissed myself, i just wish i saw it.

I wonder how they think giving people in poverty a big wad of money will ever help anything? What these people need is jobs - first improve agriculture, then have the agriculture supplying cities, modernise them both, improve the markets, introduce big companies to the cities, get people working there, and then with the newfound riches from the economy, improve the hospitals. That would be sufficient to rid them of poverty. A good, down to earth, economical system to run things also helps too, because bad politics doesn't exactly help poverty out.

If this money goes to anything I hope it goes to the building of new infrastructure, cities, and the building of new jobs and better hospitals.

I find that a pretty sick and perverse sense of humour. Ricky Jervais was only any good in the Office for 1 episode. Apart from that he's a moron who seems to find false hope for the less fortunate funny. I find that disgusting.

Also Jacob the reason the money we gvie to Africa isn't used is due to the corrupt politicians keeping it all for themselves and lording it over the poor people. And nukes never solved anything.

I like Ricky Gervais, his humour isn't dominated by pathetic politically correct tripe. Okay, so some of his jokes aren't funny, but at least he doesn't allow himself to be dominated by the beaurocrats who're trying to protect every shitty minority group there is.

I like Ricky Gervais. I enjoyed particularly his most recent standup - Politics. Even if he does overly milk jokes for everything they're worth, and have a tendency to revel in vulgarities.

Yeh, i don't like people who swear when it's not necessarily needed. It ruins a good routine. But aside from that some of the jokes he tells amuse me until i'm wet.

Why do people suddenly WANT to watch an incosiderate asshole for an hour or more? All that guy seems to do is just arrive at a situation, and say whatever would be most controversial or rude. That strikes me as being rather boring, unoriginal, and low brow. The most entertaining thing about it (for me) is the fact that people find it funny, like school children laughing at swear words. Some of it has a certain element of wit and cleverness, but the vast majority of it plays out like an episode of itchy and scratchy.

Give me Jack Dee or Paul Merton any day, in my mind they're far more talented, far more entertaining comedians.

Oh, and according to my buddy, the US bit was pretty good. I missed it because I was having a barbeque with a friend. But he said it was awesome. Keane, Floyd, Bon Jovi, U2, and various other bits and pieces where there. Nothing that I am into but according to him it was mostly a rock concert, so I guess there might've been some bits there that I would've liked. I dunno... I'll go check out the video sometime later.

I like Ricky Gervais when he's being interviewed by J. Ross far more. Same with Peter Kay, as his stand up shows are pointless. He'll make a pathetic effort of a joke, pull a face and say "Eh?" and people will be in hysterics.

At least when they're with Ross quite a good portion of it is improv.
