Well spotted, Xav! And thanks Oddish for pointing it out to me in OddChat.

I'd like to ask people to take care in talking about this month's Inhabitant's Anonymous feature. While it's all interesting, the more observant fans will be able to start forming plot devices from some of the things that are said. To that effect, they are spoilers, so I'm sure you all appreciate that not everyone will want to stumble across them. Alcar will open the Spoiler Forum next time he's online.

Yeah, and hence don't read this month's AIA if you're remaining ultra strict on how much you're spoiling the game's story elements.

What's a 'Trashtalker'?

I'm kinda hoping that in Gameplay you see those lil' Salamander things going about their daily routine. Such as catching fish etc. That'd be kinda thooper.

It's called a Chippunkz , it's from live Ammo.

It's not necessarily called a Chippunkz (God help us if we have yet another 'z' on Oddworld), but it's a live ammo used to distract the enemy. Something like the whistling distraction cameras in Splinter Cell.

Addendum:
I particularly love the Inhabitant Profile this month. It asked questions that were very specific to the job, and hence we got some more personal and fulfilling answers, I feel. Also, June's Dear Alf section is far less demeaning, and does also answer all the questions, I think. Plus Alf said "Snoop Sloggy," which I find hilarious. Tee hee hee.

Good job Xav. When I went on today and saw that OWI.com had been updated I rushed here but as always I was beaten. I've still got more yet to read but what I've seen so far looks interesting...

I like the pictures. I just wish they were bigger. I especially like the new sloggish creature, colored to look like a rottweiler. The "chippunk" looks a little too cartoony, but everything else looks pretty cool.

I wish they'd hurry up and finish the game though. And for the record, I wish Bungie would hurry up and finish Halo 2. And Fable... Blue Box should finish that soon too.

In the words of the Simpson's Comic Shoppe Guy: "Best update ever!"

That Inhabitant Profile is great. Like I've said previously, often the most interesting ones are from the admin staff rather that the 'talent'.

On thing I noticed in the Anonymous was the following quote from CG: "Da boys got their final schedules today and it's going to be tight getting everything done in the next month or two." So definately no release in June and probably not even august!

Still I'm not sure what you count as spoilers in there. They really weren't much beyond appetisers

Mann I am loveing the new Oddworld rock art. It really looks as if it tells a story about the River Natives like the Salimanders. I really can't wait to find out what they are species wise.

Plus did you guys notice the new vehicle? Its called a Wolvark vehicle which almost reminds me of those Florida Everglade Swamp Gliders. You know those jet boats with the huge fans on the back.

Here is the picture of I think the Wolvark.

Could you imagine a whole gang of hunters takeing these boats out and hunting you down while your on the river? This game from the pictures and all the information we have is reminding me about old stories that took place on the banks of the Mississippi River. Like Huck Finn and such. It really looks like a twisted Oddworld version of Huckleberry Finn if you ask me. I wounder if OWI took notes from those old stories as research and referance material. Huck Finn definitly matches the whole styal of this game in a lot of ways. You have the river the Western styal and the whole southern Accent. It really looks like that the Mississippi southern American culture is being used in this game.

Something struck me about one of Alf's comments on Mudokons:

"Now I will impart on you a secret. I have always sensed that there are parts of Mudos that you and I have never been to where muds of all kinds have reached varying heights of civilization!"

We know that Sligs were originally a benevolent race, perhaps Mudokons have been industrialized as well? Maybe there will be evil Muds in a future game.

We already know that Mudokons exist that live in the cities on Oddworld, and occupy higher classes. I guess this was Alf's way of making sure we knew it

Great points, PA. I had tried to make out that image, unsuccessfully. And some kind of swamp glider chase or just scene would be awesome, especially if it's with an Oddworld-style vehicle, which that most definitely looks. Didn't the orc/mechanic on the Christmas card have a W on his cap? Is that a Wolvark, then?

The name of which I love, by the way. It's very obvious where the word is extracted from, but it looks natural and almost rolls off the tongue. Marvellous.

And regarding civilised Mudokons, we know there are those that live in cities, but whether they became industrialised themselves or were just dragged in and left to adapt, we don't know. Makes you wonder, especially since Sam's eggs all go into the slavery industry, or else liberated.

They might be the Slegs that were mentioned in the GDC cards. Oddish pointed out the colouring to me, and not being an expert in dog breed, I started Googling images. The colour sceme seems to be shared by rottweilers and dobermans, both of which I believe are regarded as vicious dogs, right?

I wonder what will set this game apart from other games that will come out on the same release date. The Oddysee games had gamespeak and such like, working together etc. I wonder what the defining features of this will be.

I hope the AI's decent and the socialogical/economical/ecological structures will be in place to add to the real life concept.

Yep that is a boat its very easy to make out I am very good at looking at detailed images. You can say I have an Artist's eye. Anyway notice the huge floatation parts on the bottom, thats what makes it a boat. In this case it would be a single person boat. They would get in, sucure themselves, and ride like the wind down the river or swamp. The reason I believe its fast is because for one the character in the boat is holding a gun and that makes it become an attack type of vehicle. I heard also there are going to be small battles takeing place in this game. So a battle on the river doesn't sound so far fetched right now. And yes I think the W does stand for "Wolvark." Perhaps there is a huge river side Boat house that houses and manufactures these Wolvarks and sells them for profit and those orc guys are like the mechanics of these vehicles.

Good point. It would make the most sense though if there were another queen, failing that, we might be able to assume that the eggs are simply "worker" class, and that certain regions interpret it as slaves, and others as citizens. Another possibility is that they were not dragged in, but were simply the natives where an industrial city sprang up. Lack of traditional hunting and farming grounds creates hunger, and the new city has an original concept: Wage Labor. The difference would be that this city had nothing particularly against the Mudokons, and since they got in on the ground floor, so to speak, were able to rise to prominence with the rest of the city.

Speaking of Wage Labor, I'm curious as to what stage these salamanders and blobs are in. The Hickens appear quite bound to the system by now, but the other two races might escape. The game sounds as if the encroaching of civilization onto different parts of the river might be forcing them to work for money. The salamanders look too benign to really stop this, but the blobs appear somewhat militant. Restless natives? We'll have to see.

PS, I really hope those head fins are still around.

Yeah, I thought it was funny too. Though, I do think the song needs to be tweaked a little bit if it was going to be released and successful.

I'm hoping that the Salamander things will be an interesting and intriguing with their lives and story. They might just create a couple of new fics for me to write about [although God knows i have over 100 left to write, yes, literally over 100. Most focus around already introduced characters, but then there's their background and also some new characters not introduced. I'm thinking of doing one about the Reptilian-Orkhid war. I'm doing a massive summary as well soon. Yeh, this post has just been drowned by revelations of my fics. But feel free to read them [shameless plugging]].

I never heard how those oddworld songs sound like, you know "use yer imagenation" and another sang by a German rap group. Do they sound like that we just heard, or is dark and twisted, by the looks of the clips they don't look dark and twisted. Or are they anoying or somehing, becuase i can't dawnload it.

Slamanders are like those muds that we saw on the X-factor, fishing. They replaced then with a newer spieces, Slamanders.

EDIT:On Oddguys last post on this thread, am i seeing things or dose it under Oddguys post "Last edited by Xavier". Hhhmmm
