Okay, first off thanks for the images Xavier.
Secondly, we all need to understand a little more about copyrights here. The only people that own the legal "rights" to these images are Oddworld Inhabitants (and perhaps Microsoft). Therefore they are the only ones that need to be given credit. We are lucky enough that Oddworld are a company that lets us do this. When I was running a NFL fan site, I would ask media sites for permission to use images, and I got either a "sorry we cannot fulfil your request" or you will have to pay us royalties of $1000 per image.
It doesn't matter who finds the image or where it came from. It's Oddworld's property and that's it. Okay, some images are more difficult to find than others and sometimes rarer images are only given to particular websites (I have found European gaming websites seem to get rarer images than US gaming websites). As an example Oddworld-Web has been given "exclusive" images from OWI and Microsoft in the past. Because these images have been given to my site from official sources and not just found, then if other people use them credit should be given to Oddworld-Web. I found some sites done this, and some didn't. To be honest, it was nice if they did give me credit, but I didn't make a big deal if they didn't. If you really want to get technical about this Xavier, Oddworld Maniac's gallery should be crediting the gaming websites you obtained the images from (I even noticed you have the images that were given to Oddworld-Web and Oddworldian for one of the OddChats. But there is no link back to either site). As you are not doing that, you really can't complain to Hayley (DepthsofOdd) for not giving you credit for images you have posted in these threads. She could have found them herself. Or if she wasn't a member of OWF she could have found the thread or forums through a search engine also. Exactly the same way you have found images.
Now this is where is all gets a little tricky. Some copyright laws claim that the original images cannot be altered in anyway. Oddworld obviously turn a blind eye to this, as they do not have a problem with us altering an image for a website logo or banner or something like that. Since they don't have an issue with this, you probably could complain against someone if they stole your Website image and didn't give credit. Or if they stole the exact text from your site, then that would also be wrong. One of the problems I have is people using the Abe animations that I made and not giving me credit. This would be a situation where complaining is relevant, because I scanned them in and turned them into animated gifs. Same as if someone stole the OWF or Oddworld Maniac logo.
I know this is long winded, but generally, don't complain about something if you are not doing it yourself. And I don't wish to sound accusive of you here or to have any bad feelings between us, but relax a little and don't take the whole finding images/information thing so seriously. I'm sure OWI wouldn't.
And don't worry Hayley, I won't be kicking you off this forum, as not only do your opinions echo mine exactly, but we are free to speak our mind here.
Abe Babe...
