I reckon GTA V is the most hyped game ever. At least in recent years anyway. I literally cannot get away from it.

Oh well. I'll get it when it's 75% off on Steam.
It's been a while since the last one. I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar pulled a 'Red Dead Redemption' on us and just skipped PC altogether. If they do release it they'll probably wait til the GOTY edition or whatever it'll be called.

:
I remember once upon a time I was really hyped for Assassin's Creed when the first was about to come out and had been ultra hyped for awhile...
I got Brotherhood and Revelations cheap so I was a bit hyped for AC3. Turns out that one wasn't exactly what I wanted in an AC game but certain things worked well like the tree climbing and hunting. The convoy system was broken and pointless and it took way too long to level up in multiplayer. (Takes about 10-20 times as long to prestige as in CoD). I'm excited for AC4 since it'll be my first Wii U AC game, but I definitely don't seek out videos like I used to do for AC3. If you look up too many videos and forum threads you can really over-hype yourself and set yourself up for a fall.

Reinstalled Team Fortress 2 and Skyrim on my PC and I'm playing those a lot now. Lately I've been trying to beat the last few levels on an XCOM style game called Rebelstar Tactical Command on the Gameboy Advance, only one mission left!

I found FF13 and FF13-2 on sale in the secondhand bin, so I got them both.

I only just got to the crystal lake and got paradigms, but it's alright so far. The combat system was pretty boring for a while until now, but the characters seem alright and the visual design is stunning.

I don't know how it'll end up but it's beautiful enough for me to want to see more of it.

How are those hallways treating you? Man, I have such fond memories of those hallways. Those fucking hallways. I spent 90 hours in those hallways. Are you tired of hearing about hallways? You shouldn't be. You have so many more hallways to explore. You're in for a treat. If you like hallways.

The hallways do drag quite a bit.

Plot's a bit whack (seems to be about religious martyrdom and gods and shit), combat system is taking a bit to get used to, but I actually really like the cast. They feel pretty human and relateable.

I'm enjoying it so far, though I wish the bosses weren't such damage sponges.

Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Yeah you'd think it's incredibly geeky and obscure and all that, but it strikes a decent balance between realism and being a fun driving game, a bit like a more relaxed version of Gran Tourismo, unlike a lot of other sims which are so realistic they make you think "What's the point of 'playing' this when I can do it as a job in real life if I want?"

Drive a (customisable) lorry around a compact representation of Europe. While vehicle speeds are true to RL, distance measurements are vastly shortened and the day/night cycle passes quickly like other open world games. Earn in-game money and XP by picking up cargo and completing delivery jobs. Levelling up unlocks new custom lorry parts and more valuable jobs with higher rewards (varied time limits, distances, cargo types & weights).

Micro-manage your own transport company in the background as you drive. Hire and fire drivers, buy more trucks and upgradable garages.

Lorries handle as you'd expect them to (and feel heavy). Controls are customisable and can be as complex or basic as you wish. Toggle features like the 55MPH speed limit (I have that turned off and try and get as far as I can within the 10 in-game hour 'rest' limit, also toggleable) or a realistic HGV braking system.

The demo's pretty generous too if this description hasn't put you off and you wanna give it a try.

Played through Super Metroid all the way over the past few days. What a game, I finally get all the hype and love it gets. Definitely my favourite Metroid game now... although Prime is very close.

I haven't touched Super Metroid since I got stuck after Brinstar. And by stuck I mean I spent about 40 minutes running all over the place trying to figure out where to go next to no avail and said I'd try again later and never did. What I did play of it was a lot of fun, though. I really ought to continue it.

Yeah, I did the same thing when I first got it like two years ago. Once you figure out where you're going and start to get into the swing of things it really becomes a fantastic game.

I suppose you got stuck at the Noob Bridge like I did?

Super Metroid was an amazing game for its time and I regret only playing it with an emulator back in 2003 and not after 1994 on a SNES, but having quicksave was nice. I remember getting stuck on that annoying wall-jump bit with the three gnome creatures (or whatever they were), but I don't remember the 'noob bridge'.

@Slog Bait - Surely cheating and using a walkthrough is better than putting a game down and not enjoying the rest of it?

YES I GOT STUCK ON THE 'NOOB BRIDGE'... I swear I messed with everything to at least see if I could run or roll across it but then someone told me I needed to get some kind of dash ability or something before I could progress, but I'm pretty sure they were remembering the game wrong.

And it's not like I just gave up, I seriously just quit for the night and forgot to play it again for a really really long time. I accidentally did that with Majora's Mask, too. I tend to enjoy games less if I get to the point of absolutely needing a walkthrough to progress.

I spent the weekend messing around in Sonic Generations. The PC version is slowly being torn to pieces by modders and there’s some pretty nice level and character mods out there, the most prominent being a port of every main daytime level from Sonic Unleashed.

Oh also the base game is fun and lends itself well to time trials. I got to #211 on the online leaderboard for Rooftop Run Act 2, which isn’t bad considering that the first chunk of leaderboard is all people who cheated to get a 0:00 time.

Slog Bait, literally all you need to do to get past that bridge is hold X while running to sprint.

You wouldn't believe how long that took me to figure out.

Now go play the game! It's so worth it!

Also, speaking of Majora, I recently started a new game of that myself. I forgot how wonderful it is. All the characters are so unique and personable - they always have something interesting to say and it's a joy to talk to everyone. Ocarina of Time's universe just feels so artificial in comparison, and the people often feel like robots. Maybe that's why I like Majora more. The world is so much more fleshed out. Plus I find Majora has more variety in terms of gameplay.

I'll probably pick it back up sometime before the month ends. For now, though, I'm getting used to playing Terraria again since it's updating tomorrow. Pretty excited for it.

Majora's Mask is the first and only LOZ game I've played, and so far I'm enjoying it. I don't typically like games set up like that, so it was a pleasant surprise.

i've been playing Payday 2. i fucking love it. it's an online game but you can play it offline, albeit with shit-AI team mates. but yeah, rob banks, cook up meth, shoot cops and see all manner of fucking terrifying police/military tactics and people come out of the woodwork. fuck juggernauts. and you level up your guy, shit tons of upgrades and bollocks, masks, one of those games. addictive, though. i never thought i'd be able to say in a game: "GET ON THE GOD DAMN GROUND NOW!"

also the music is very well done. it's not just a tune in the background, it changes to better suit your situation, so if the shit suddenly hits the fan ie: you being jumped by a group of sneaky SWAT and getting shot to shit, the music will change from a slight tension beat to OH SHIT WE'RE GONNA DIE. i like the music.

I have a really hard time getting into that game. It's just so different to Ocarina.

I finally got GTA V. It's great and so far Franklin has been my favourite character which I didn't expect at first as he seems like the most normal one of the trio, but so far he's the most interesting one to me. Trevor and Michael are great too though. The special abilities are fun.

I went and bought The Stanley Parable - A game which has been described as being "As if Douglass Adams wrote Portal". Perhaps a little expensive for what it is IMO even with the discount, but still very much worth experiencing for it's strangeness.

Still playing Vanilla WoW. Quite a bit. It's fun, tanking is more challenging than I remember and healing has been a blast as well.

If anyone wants to join me, my characters are named Knivez, Okagon, Potus and Cosmonaut.

Just completed Breath of Fire III over the last month or so. Obscure 90's JRPG which was one of the first games I played on a PS1 with my best friend - Something we replayed a couple of times, and it was nice for me to revisit for the first time in several years... It dug up a lot of memories. Nostalgia is a strange thing.

It's a decent game. Storyline is robust, mechanics are pretty solid, the mini-games are fun with good rewards, although you have to grind and level in places to get past some of the bosses (yay for emulators and fast forward function), like most old RPGs. Just a shame not many people played it or it's sequel, really, considering how good they were.

I played the demo/beta of RPG/adventure Paper Sorcerer.

Besides looking like you've wandered into an old D&D sourcebook, it's a solid turn-based combat game (that's Pokemon to most of you) where you get to play the bad guy. My party consists of a banished sorcerer with horns, a troll assassin, a schemin' demon and a ghost missing half of his face. So yeah.

Demo will take you the best of an hour. Available here.

It's weird, I also feel that this is a brilliant game. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I like the mix of driving game and tycoon management sim which matches perfectly. It's great to play something like this and listen to the radio or a podcast. The best simulator game I've ever seen.

Scribblenauts Unlimited is a lot of fun if you've got a big imagination, you can spawn almost any object you can think of and there are some great fan creations such as famous memes or popular tv/film/game characters.

Devil May Cry 4 is great if you're looking for a bit of action with some light puzzling. Just as good as DMC3 if not slightly better. The PC port runs nicely and has a lot of options, well worth the price.

Game of Thrones on PC is alright, I got it in the humble bundle so I can't complain about price. It's not as polished as AAA titles and is a bit clunky but it's a love letter to fans of the series as you can explore Castle Black, King's Landing etc.

ZombiU is fantastic, I was initially skeptical but it's a great survival themed game. The way you scan the area with the gamepad and sneak past enemies is clever. Story isn't bad and the graphics are good. A must have if you're curious about it.

Looking forward to Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Wii Sports Club and possibly Naruto Ultimate Storm 3 on PC.
