I understand you are trying to make a point, or an arguement. But this is exactly what we dont need. If we keep alienating ourselves from one another, its going to just make things worse.

So what you're saying is that Alcar should be demoted from Super Mod down to a regular member only because you didn't agree with him banning you? He does a great job here, and doesn't deserve this shit from you.

The biggest problem is that instead of letting the topic die as it would have or just trying to ease everyones minds and try to be a little humble Alcar has done nothing but throw fuel on the fire. He has been depricating and insulting every single time he has posted on here. This would have never become four pages long if he had just said I'm sorry. I should not have banned grig for that length of time and maybe I should have been a little clearer as to my reasons. Alcar is an arrogant fool and I do not wish to have him as a moderator. I think we need a vote. If this can't be a democracy then don't you think that goes against everything that oddworld stands for? I certainly do.

I think that I will post a poll asking if they want to get rid of Alcar and who would they replace him with! Sounds good! Since nobody will tell me where to put it, i'll just put it here, if it needs to be moved, Xav is always nice about that. I just need to know who the People what as the new SM to be! Grig, if it was a thread only to belittle Alcar's self-confidence, then that's awful. But I wouldn't have any problem with it if it was some sort of election thing for Super Mod. That's fair, especially since this forum runs on democracy.

Of course, if you want a Super Mod election, then you'll have to propose the idea to Abe Babe. You can't just do it yourself.

Yeah, your right Mac, I should go ask her! But I'd rather have more people behind my cause so she doesn't think i'm just doing this because he banned me. I think that Alcar is rude and arrogent on the Forums because of his high position here, and I think that he does this because he's friends with AbeBabe, so nothing can be done against him. He could be nicer in some situations, but he's not, and I don't think that's very nice. I want someone that can get the SM job done, while being nice and polite. And yes you can be nice and be SM at the same time! And I know that I can't just elect all by myself, but you know what they say, "One person can make all the difference."

Whoa, this one sure got busy since I left last night. I can't be bothered to quote ... so here goes.

Firstly, there's always going to be people that don't like someone. There's probably people on here that don't like me. You can't expect everyone to like you. Like at the other forum I smod at, there was a vote for my position ... and out of the 20 or so mods (it's a large forum), two people voted against me. To this day I still do not know who those two people are, but obviously they didn't like me or didn't think I'd make a good smod for whatever reason. And that's fine, cause you can't expect a 100% vote. But those people were in the minority, just like I feel w/ those that don't like Peter.

Really, we don't need a divided forum. People have their opinions and are entitled to them, but I've been through a heck of a lot of forum divisions. It happened here almost 12 months ago, and I've seen a few over at the other place I mod at. They aren't pretty. People start taking sides and arguments arise. I myself unfairly dismissed a fellow admin from here. I regret doing that, and I'm not going to make the same mistake again. Believe me, you do not want a divided forum, no matter what your opinion is ... you're going to hate it here if you do. And I think we've recovered quite well from the events of a year ago ... but it took a while.

And I'm going to state here, that the smod position is not up for voting. There's a lot of responsibility in that role, in fact that person has almost equal powers to myself. A smod vote works on larger forums where there are multiple admins and the smods don't have vB CP access, but for a small forum like this one, this decision is made up to myself. I don't wish to make it sound like I'm being unfair. But sometimes people have a tendancy to vote their friends into positions. I'm not saying it will happen, but it might ... and I'm not about to let that position come part of a popularity competition.

Maybe I've been too attached from the forum lately to see, but even when I wasn't posting, I'd still be checking posts most days. From what I saw Peter was doing a great job. He'd make some jokes here and there ... but that's all they were ... jokes.

I'm going to type up a post explaining my absense for the past 10 months ... I feel you members deserve to know what was going on during my absence.

But by all means, create a poll. I'm sure both myself and Peter would be interested by the results. And if someone wants to point out any specific things, then do so. I'm only getting a general view from the anti-Alcar supporters at the moment, apart from this one incident.

I'm brand new to the forum and I don't want to overstep by bounds, but one of the 1st things I see is all this fighting and name calling going on between these two members causing a whole lot of other members to jump into this rumble....I am a big Oddworld fan, all be it not until recently, and was hard pressed to find a good forum to exchange opinions with other Oddworld fans. I think I was very lucky to come across this site...I hope I'm not making a mistake....Sometime we do or say things that we might later regret...so if I can make a suggestion...the two members(sorry don't recall your names at the moment) Please find a way to resolve this problem that seems to have become a major topic in this fine forum. That way everyone else can get back to talking about Abe, Munch and other cool Oddworld stuff.......PS; Thxx to the Oddguy for the nice welcome...

I myself have been more then a little harsh on Alcar in here. I was trying to show him how it feels to have someone just completely pass judgement on you without a real explenation. I have heard many good things about you as an s-mod and all the things that you have done in this forum. I am not going to push any more on this subject but I would appreciate it if you would remember one thing - if so many people rallied against you then you must have been at least partially to blame. I believe that you have all the abilities needed to be an s-mod but you are still quite young and very easily taken on power trips. Just remember that the wise man knows that kindness and humility will take him farther then arrogance and power. I myself have not been entirely kind in here and I apologize for my insults. I don't hate you by the way. Just please try to be kinder.

I like both Alcar and Grig. Alcar is on my team in the competition thread and he's the most helpful there. Alcar hasn't wronged me in any way. Grig and I talk often and he and I are buddies.

I was thinking today, why would I want to make enimies if I didn't have to? I may have said some things that were a little harsh to both Grig and Alcar.......calling them babbies. The truth is, this is a problem between Grig and Alcar, and I think I now know what the rules meant when they said not to discuss one's banning, because stuff like this happens. Maybe Grig and Alcar will never get along; some people just don't, but I think for now on we should let Grig and Alcar take care of this privately. Maybe, over time, things will change......you never know.
