The world's last known combat veteran of World War I, Claude Choules, has died in Australia aged 110.
Known to his comrades as Chuckles, British-born Mr Choules joined the Royal Navy at 15 and went on to serve on HMS Revenge.
He moved to Australia in the 1920s and served in the military until 1956.
Mr Choules, who had been married to his wife Ethel for 76 years, was reported to have died in his sleep at a nursing home in his adopted city of Perth.

The class troublemaker is standing in the hall when she spots a deer. Naturally, this is a strange occurance, and she is about to inform her class and teacher about the deer when the principal shows up to capture the raging beast. Events escalate from there.
It's from the show Nichijou, which ironically means Everyday Life. It's a surreal comedy.
It's basically just wacky sketches.

All this means that in the 200,000 years since Homo Sapiens took her first steps across the African plains, just 57 billion people have ever lived. Astonishingly that means over 12% of all the people ever born are walking the planet at this very moment. Or to put it another way: one in eight people who have ever been born are alive today.
