Grig has also been talking to me on MSN. I just reciently got msn just today. But he also e-mailed me about his situation. I am not going to point any fingers nor will I call anyone a hypocryt because I am just not like that. In my own opinion yes I think it was wrong to ban Grig because one he was a pretty diecient member and two I never seen anything he did wrong. If he spamed then he spamed we all spamed once or even twice on here and I know we all spamed more than our fair share of spam even Mods. Nobody here is the best and nobody here is perfect. If you ask me I think we view jokeing around and carrying on a silly conversation is considered spam. Do we have to be serious all the time? My brain gets drained trying to come up with the next meaningful topic or serious topic. Sometimes a little sillyness can be a sort of releaf thing. Grig is fairly new on here at least a few months. So in my opinion yes I agree that was rather harsh don't you think? And I am also glad to here he is comming back. Oh I almost forgot sombody needs to move this in off topic.

Grid was a good member. I came to the forums after the two warnings had been originally been handed out to Grig, to find both General Discussion and Off Topic full of last replies by Grid. Some weren't classified as spam, but the rest was.

You've all over reacted to Grid's pleas of innocence, and like the children you are, have acted on impulse. I asked you, sligslinger how I could better myself and the forums yesterday. You replied with things along the lines of 'stop being so bad' and 'you are a dictator'. The reason I asked you for suggestions was because I knew you hadn't any idea, you critised me, yet you had no suggestions of how I could rectify it.

As far as I'm concerned, I have changed my attitudes many times here, because people have accused me of being "power hungry". Yet each one still seems to be percieved as "power hungry". I don't need any more power, I have enough, and I abide by the rules. I'm not going to change my attitude anymore. As I've realised what the problem is. Do you think your Teachers, Principal or Parents are mean, and sometimes power hungry? Of course. It's because they care, and in the end their actions are justified, for your benefit.

Grid will be unbanned tomorrow, as planned. I really appreciate the effort you guys have taken to get rid of me. Though, it's also nice that some people have noticed my continual efforts, thanks

Yah i reckon grig was a good member.... but he was also spamming.... and very severly too!!! Anyways the point is, Alcar had a reason to ban Grig, but he just didnt tell you guys, the end justifies the mean.... also ' You want the truth??? you cant handle the truth!!!' Anyways the point is, Alcar does thing for the benefits of the forum, why would he just ban Grig for no reason at all???? and why could he be power hungry eh? he already is a supermod.

Ok in the end, Grig was a good member, but he spammed, Xav sent him a warning, Alcar and Xav warned him over pm about not to spam, but he stilled spam. So thats why he got banned, why dont you guys get the facts straight before you start some stupid arguement thread.

You could've posted in the beginning something like Important, as you know, Grig has been banned, would it be possible to tell us the reason behind banning Grig? and could he be unbanned soon since he is such a good member

Btw Alcar has been VERY NICE about this, if you actually read the rules.... you cannot start a thread about banned members.

I started a thread about a banned member once... but then it got deleted by Alcar, i didn't whinge about it coz his just doing his Job.

Maybe all of you should stop whinging and insulting the current stuff and do some constructive thinking, like congratulating the mods with their good work or suggesting good ideas. Dont be a Fag and come in and start arguements...

In the end, Grig is getting unbanned, and we all hope that he learns his lesson of not spamming.....

Grig annoyed me, but I beared with him, and my patience finally quavered when he flooded GD. Only then did I see Xav's warning, and I never saw a post from him since. Maybe he flooded the Forums earlier when I wasn't here, too, but I didn't see any of it. In fact I thought he was just laying low for a while. I don't support the banning of members, though, unless 3 very clear and distinct warnings have been issued (EDIT: I though I put something abut unless it's very clear they're total losers who just go around making arses out of themselves by insulting everyone, because I know we've had some of those here before), and I'm pretty sure in the rules it says the first ban will be for only four days. As for not talking about banned members, I'm pretty sure that was only added after last years little outburst, and I know for certain who, it was decided, was to blame for that (EDIT: Pete tells me it was there beforehand). And yet I came back. If we don't have these sorts of...threads, then the actions of the Powers that Be are just going to remain distant and confusing. That's what it felt like for me last year. This year I'm in a position where I actually know what the hell has been going on.

I 50% agree with MrBoj, a lot of you are over reacting, but just because this is the Internet, it doesn't mean the concept of fairness can be thrown away. Grig shouldn't have been banned, that's my final opinion on that matter. Trust me to take some obscure middle-path stance. I also think you're all over reacting. Calm it down. I don't think any election you have is going to do anything more than express the views of whatever small proportion of the Forumers cast their votes in it.

Anyway, about a hundred people have probably posted while I've been typing this... (EDIT: nope)

We are not saying you are power hungry or the evil Mods. That was an analogy dude. What we are saying is you banned a member because you were annoyed with him. Thats what we are saying. Ok you are annoyed with him because he spammed on several occasions. If you are annoyed by this person then put him on your ignor list. Thats why its there. Why go to banning someone temporarely like that? I have never seen that kind of power practiced on the forums before. Thats whats fishy about all of this, and that is why we were fighting back here not only for Grig's sake but for other people aswell. I view if you need to ban someone then that someone has to do something really really bad like setting a virus to your computer or something.

Now I can understand if the person wrote only one word threads all the time but on occasions thats just fishy because we all ride in that same boat of spamming on occasions. But its good he is comming back he is not a bad member.

Anyway, here's how I feel about this thread. I don't think this is just about Grig being banned. This is a real issue that I've talked to several people about, and they think that certain mods are going power hungry. Alcar seems to be the popular one to point fingers at, but may I just say that Alcar hasn't been evil to me in any way. I haven't been here long and I'm not concerned about the mods, but other people are. I wouldn't suggest removing anyone from modship though. I actually think Alcar took everyone's critisism very well. He didn't blow-up and kill anyone like a real dictator.

Grig is a good member and didn't mean any harm. Grig and all of us though he got banned after 1st warning, but Alcar says different. Everyone has a different perspective and version of events.......in the middle lies the truth. But in the end, Grig still got banned......which begs the question, "Who is right in this situation?" Well, by rules, it would have to be the mod. We all signed up to be watched over by a mod when we joined the forums. But what happens when people think the mod is unjust?

I have to agree that everyone is really overreacting. Alcar is not Hitler and what's done is done. Grig (not Grid) will be back soon and Alcar now knows what will happen if this situation arises again.

Alcar, this is sort of the forum members giving you their first warning. I'm not taking sides here, if Grig deserved to be banned temporarily according to the rules that is fine. But you are the mod/admin and part of your job is to look past the rules and do what is best for the community. Which apparently in this case was to take it easy on Grig.

Don't worry I'm not going to try to overthrow you or anything and I wouldn't support any move to do so unless there was a good reason, which there currently isn't.

What upset people so much is that it appeared Alcar took pleasure in banning Grig and was looking for reasons to get him in trouble. I see it like this. Grig spammed. Grig (sorry for spelling it wrong... I honestly though it was Grid...) is not as annoying as some members here. You don't see me banning those even more annoying people, now do you? When I banned Grid I was in a clear state of mind, and I knew exactly what I was doing.

I'm not going to apoligise, I was following rules. I've been nothing but kind and reasonable in this thread, and all I've recieved is childish remarks. TheKhanzumer, I understand that we want the members to be happy, but I'm not going to look past the rules because people complain it was unfair, when it clearly wasn't.

How about a proposal? Would everyone like to see me turn into Hitler Alcar? Because, I'd love to ban all of you that step out of line just once

I have taken all of this into account, though it's worth jack all to me. I know when I do things that are wrong, and this wasn't one of them.

Grig is now unbanned. I'd also like to make it clear, that if another thread is created on any type of banning, it will be immediately deleted and the poster given a warning. As this, is in accordance to the rules.

Enough, everyone!

Whats been done is done. I cant take sides in this instance, regardless of my own personal feelings and beliefs. Plus the fact that I am friends with both groups that have argued here, it would be unfair to choose between one or the other. Nobody is perfect as PA has stated, so neither side can deem they are the ones that are correct. Going by a case by case basis this is a draw.

I say this though, no one in this case is right, nor are they wrong. Both sides have shared their sides of the story, Grig has been unbanned, and Alcar is just trying to do his job the best he can guys. Hes not a dictator, trust me. He's the farthest thing from it, you cant even begin to compare him with hitler, hitler was a mass murderer and even worse.

Please, lets just get back on track here and stay focused on having things back to normal. Thats all I have to say, please respect my opinion though.

And welcome back Grig!

Its good to see you again.

I think Hitler was misjudged, as well as portrayed falsely. You know, all that propaganda stuff. Hitler wanted the best for his people, the Germans. I honestly hate the way he is portrayed as today.

I kind of missed a lot of all this ... seeing it happened when I was doing my cosplay stuff.

Firstly, most times I trust Alcars judgement on things here, that's why he has mostly the same powers I do, and doesn't have to report every banning, etc to me. Secondly there is a no spamming rule on OWF, as there is on any forum and it is enforced.

However I did think that only a 3 day ban is given after your first three warnings, so it shouldn't have been a week. I'd have to go through the posts, but if Grig was given warnings ... then hopefully they were clear and he was sent a PM advising of such. On the other hand if this was done, then Grig should have heeded the advice given and not continued to spam.

Sure, we all spam from time to time ... but in most cases a ban is only given if the spamming is excessive. And it doesn't specifically have to be pointless n00bie kind spam, but a lot of few word responses that aren't relevant to the topic are just as spammy also.

Well, the thing was, when Xav gave me my a warning, he said "You have your first warning." And Alcar send me a PM around the same time saying, " If you don't stop spamming, you will be banned." He didn't number it, so I asumed he was talking about the first warning given to me by Xav. So, I think I posted once after that, and I know it wasn't spam, unless the Finish the sentance game counts as spam. After that I didn't post for the rest of that day. The next day, I asumed I wasn't in trouble anymore, so I signed in and tried to reply to something, and I wasn't allowed! Alcar still hasn't shown me evidence of the 3rd warning. I personally think Alcar just doesn't like me and that was his reason. So maybe you can give me justice! Even though its already over, I'd really like something to be done.

Grig, we don't see eye to eye on most things but that doesn't mean I'd ban you over nothing. There are other members that I don't see eye to eye with on topics, but we still respect eachother, and they haven't been banned for it.

Do you not remember spamming General Oddworld Discussion and Off-Topic Discussion to the brim? I should have taken screen captures, although I know members that saw it as well. I am using the right wording, Grig. I don't need a dictionary either.

Yes, I remember the Flooding that I did, but wasn't that what Xav's warning was for? And there were not "ample" warnings, Xav gave me one, and you sent me one that I thought was about the 1st warning. I didn't disrespect anybody, though now i've lost all respect for you.
