It is impossible to read this topic without switching off. The words pass my eyes, but I can't seem to take them in. Now I know why I usually stick to Off-Topic...

For the record, these internet IQ tests are a load of bollocks. I've got scores ranging from 93 to 181 on them, so something tells me they're not that reliable...

I know, they are like SAT's. Even those don't determine your intellegence.

Also, you are considered a slig if your dumb as a brick.

SATs are a fairly good indicator, actually. They must be, since I got triple-8 in Year 9...

(By the way, apostrophes are for position and possession, as they say. You should never use apostrophes for plurals. So it's "SATs", not "SAT's"...)

Wow, thanks for the grammar correction.

No, SATs are not fairly good. They are baised and they don't indicate intellegence. When is you have a problem? They try to indicate your intellegence while you are dylexic? The SATs were basically created to weed out the smartest people and give them better schooling than the rest. The SATs were first used in the army, then they were used to predict how kids would do in their first term of college. People felt that the immigrants were lowering the intelligence of the nation. The schools wanted to make sure that they weren't going to admit kids that weren't going to do well.

There are people who do acceptable on the SATs and they are doctors, lawyers, etc.

But I for now, they don't have SATs for people who are dylexic.

I think there's the slightest possibility that American SATs are different things to British SATs... Everything else about your education system is different (worse), so it makes sense that this would be, too. It certainly sounds worse...

How can you say our education system is worst? When you never even been to an American school? Yep, stereotype. So you guys have SATs for people who are disabled? I don't see anyone in Europe inventing something great or curing AIDS or found the meaning of life. Do you see all the manufacturing goods that say "Made in Europe" anywhere? noooooo, because your products don't last. You seee alot of "Made in Japan" or "Made in USA". Do you Danny think your education is more superior than everyone else because you live in Europe? Who are you? That's what it sounds like.

Chill, would you? I wasn't insulting you or anyone you know, I was just saying that the education system in your country is terrible. Nothing to explode about.

1. In England, all students have SATs in years 3 (I think), 6, and 9.

2. Ditto America :P.

3. Oh dear! I'm sorry we're so difficult to exploit! We'll try harder next time!

4. That's because labour is cheap there...

5. I think the British Education system is shit, but it's a hell of a lot better than the American one.

1. We have take SATs in elementary (which really doesn't count) and in high school for senior and Junior Year.

2. America the Beautiful!

3. You should be.

4. Ha! LOL

5. Umm...nope, your education is not alot better than America. How do you think that? It's really how you apply to your learning. Was it Europeans who practiced the first open heart surgery? Who made most of the bloopers in history?

Chill! I wasn't making a jab at you, I was making a simple observation, trying to solve a disagreement so that we could get back on topic. There is no need to be so defensive all the time...

But as for statistics, I don't consider myself one or New York state. They are a bunch of lies, and schizophrenia, evasions, folly, and hatred.

Edit: Also, it's not always the education systems which are bad. It can be the students. Some students don't apply them selves and plan not to do the work, which makes failing grades. I think that's why they think the education system is bad. In fact, I found a website which talks positive on American education, not negative.

I've often heard that as an excuse used by failing schools. The truth is, if the system of education was well-planned and engaging, more students would apply themselves and make the most of their abilities.

No, because you are going to have kids who don't care about their future. Kids fail everywhere.

Edit: I mean, why keep trying to help a kid when they don't want the help? Teachers are like "Hey, it's your grades, I'm getting paid. If you don't want my help fine then fail." No ones going to hold you by the hand in the real world. it's hard out there.

Pinky, nobody doesn't care about their future. Poor education is not the fault of the students (who are often blamed), the schools (who are often blamed), or the teachers (who are often blamed). It is the fault of the Education System itself. My mother went to an Open-Plan school, which was a school where you got to choose what you learned each day, and basically do what you wanted. It was part of a short-term scheme that was operating around the time when she was a child. The average grades of the students from Open-Plan Schools was 2 (count 'em, 2) grades higher than that of ordinary Comprehensives. Sadly, the scheme came to an end, and the Open-Plan Schools were shut down, because (get this!) they weren't profitable enough! Can you imagine that? The Government cared more about profits than about the Education of its youth! *shakes head* And people say that Labour are worse than the Tories... How short our memories have become...

Oh my goodness, how can you say that? Is it the education system's fault if a kid does not want to do his homework? Study for a test? Decides not to study for an exam because he has to go to the movies with his friends and fails it the next day? Yes, it's their responsibility to supply the education and books etc, but us, the students, have to do the work also and that is to participate in class and do our homework. That's our responsibility.

Yes, but why does the student not want to do his work? It's because schools are not engaging with the students any more. Schools are concentrating more on a fixed curriculum, and working towards grades, rather than towards actual learning...
