Why exactly is this needed when the Oddbox is coming? I don't see a point. Ah well, if Abemudokon's twitter is anything to go by, there will be an Abe game at some point too.

There's still people who don't like to play on PC, or don't have a decent PC to run it. That's where consoles come in. Although I'm sure the Oddbox won't have high system requirements, unless it gets updated graphics too.

Who is porting the Oddbox anyway? JAW, Oddmob, or who?

I don't really see the point either. Stranger was one of the better selling (if not best selling) Oddworld titles. Aside from better graphics and some improvements here and there, you're not offering the public anything they haven't seen or heard of before. And especially with the Oddbox coming out soon, it's kind of weird.

Unless JAW has another (completely new) project in the pipeline that's going to be released right after the Stranger remake (using Stranger as a sort of diving board to get their name back into the general audience's minds), I don't think this is going to be the epic new comeback they were hoping for.

I fail to see what your problem is. Consider this a port to the PS3 in conjunction with the PC port coming with Oddbox. What the hell is wrong with that?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what the majority of us have on our checklist, personally I wouldn't mind a HD 2.5 version of AO and AE opposed to SW, but you know what, like others are saying, this could be that step up to ensure they have more 'moolah' for greater things.

I'm surprised that they're tackling fine-tuning a 3D game actually, with 100+ years of game developing experience, I guess they're really taking it head on. Quite pelased about that.

Fantastic! Like others on the forums, I had a PS2 so never got the chance to play Munch or Stranger. Will get this day one

Now I really hope one of the other projects is an HD remake of Munch, with content added so it lives up to the original idea by OWI.

This is kind of a demoralizing announcement. I had actually gotten in the mood to look forward to shit like this too.

Well played guys. Bringing Oddworld back to the playstation is indeed an amazing feat you should pat yourselves on the backs for.

Well, I'm looking forward to it at least. I'll admit I was a tiny bit disappointed it wasn't a new game with Abe or a new character or something, but those are still coming and this is still cool. I never turn down Oddworld.

I'm really curious what the other new things in the game are going to be. Changes to the world set-up? A few extra bounties? Abe cameo? Hmmm? Definitely gonna get this and have a blast playing through it. I just hope since the dialogue is being changed, Stranger is still as great a character as he used to be. At least, he must still utter the line "gots ta get paid" at some point.

re-mastered dialog...I dunno if this means the dialog is being redone or what?

Adding motion controls to a shooter is basically making it a new gameplay experience. I have Metroid Prime on the Gamecube and the Collector's edition for the Wii with the Motion controls. Its soooooo much better then using an analog stick. Its basically a whole new experience.

Secondly when they say remake i think they mean a remake, with a majority of the graphical work being redone and retextured.

Additional bonus material still to be revealed? :O this is probably the best part of the whole article. Can't believe no one mentioned it yet. This could be anything from commentary and behind the scenes to extra Outlaws or even new areas to the game. What I am hoping for making is so we can backtrack in the game, it was one of the things i hated was having this beautiful gorgeous world that didnt let me explore when i wanted to.

and Finally, like someone mentioned it gives them time to work on other things. Because a remake like this only needs programmers and 3d artists. The Gameplay Designs and Concept Artists can work on other games while this is being pumped out. So its either...wait a year or two with this, or wait a year or two with nothing.

PS. Hey idiots, does it say exclusive to the PS3 anywhere in that article? No? oh well I guess theres no confirmation that its not going to be on the 360, even tho it has weaker hardware compared to the ps3, not debatable, its fact that the hardware of the PS3 is more powerful.

So shut up cause atleast we are getting something while we wait, and its a good something, i've played Stranger's Wrath 5 times so far from beginning to end, i almost shit myself when i read this. 5 years of waiting? yes, but JAW probably hasnt been working on Oddworld games for 5 years, maybe 1 or 2...even then thats being generous.

JAW has been working on Oddworld for about one year now, and they announced from the beginning that we would be seeing multiple projects from them. A remake isn't a bad way to start. It gets Oddworld back on the minds of the people who aren't diehard fans following it, it gets new fans in, and since it is adding and changing things with new graphics and controls, it gives old fans a reason to play it again.

It's a good first step before releasing new material. Especially because it also gives them more time and money to make the new games the best they can be. Yeah, we have been waiting a long time, but I'd much rather wait longer and have a great new game than have them rush out a new game just to shut up a small annoying part of the fanbase. Don't you people remember Munch's Oddysee? We know what happens when Oddworld gets rushed out.

I admit, as much as this announcement is a promising one, that did make me cringe a bit. But in a way, it isn't as pretentious as it sounds. If we look at the pragmatics a little:

If he stated that it was 'going back to PlayStation' then that would be gloating somewhat.
But he said: 'going back ON to PlayStation', I dunno, to me that has connotations of just stating that they're providing the PlayStation fans with something they've never been able to experience, whilst still leaving it open that from there on in, all things released will be multiplatform?

Or is that a bit of a stretch? I just don't think he meant ill by it, even though I read it asuch at first.

I definitely read it as "We're bringing Oddworld back to the Playstation because it was Xbox exclusive for so long". We have no idea if they intend to bring this to XBLA as well, but I think what he was saying was more like "Rejoice PS3 owners, as Stranger's Wrath is no longer exclusive to Xbox!".

So it isn't exclusive, it just hasn't been announced for other systems. They might be going the Lost Planet 2 route, and announce it on one platform, but it ends up on both at the same time. Or it could be timed exclusive. I dont know, they should just tell us. The fuckers.
