Hahaha, Spiders are great, my sister has a Tarantula named Zooey that is the most fucking adorable thing I'ver ever seen.

Get a spider for a pet, they are typically DAMN docile.

Thompson is not.

He's the size of a dinner plate and he means business.

But the Goliaths are notoriously nasty. I was able to handle him when he was a youngster, though.

You could consult a doctor about this.
Anyways, don't think of yourself as a pussy; I get dizzy when I get shots or sometimes when I see blood. Its just something in your brain, its not you wanting to be like that.

Urgh, I don't mind spiders, but yesterday morning I got up in the middle of the night for some milk, and a jumping spider landed on my hand when I was pouring it, so I girlyshrieked and shook it off, only for it to then land on my leg before it swum in a sea of milk to the safety of the cupboard.

Damn bitch stoled my milk!

Well, I guess I can relate to that because I have Trypanophobia, that's a fear of injections. Pretty bad wit me actually, as I've skipped the last... *counts on fingers* four school vaccinations. That includes tetanus and cervical cancer.

I say, get yourself in a nice, quiet room, like your bedroom, close your eyes, and imagine the walls are lined with the little hairy legged monsters. *You may want to sit down, lol* While you do this, clench you right fist as hard as you can for about 30 seconds. If you feel up to it, do it for longer. Then take a break, and do it again, but clench your left fist. You won't get results overnight, but it'll help.

I don't know about injections, but I have a morbid fear of needles. Can't look at them, even thinking about them can put me in a bad place.

I can go for injections/vaccinations, but I have to look away, and by the end of it I'm either in mild shock or on the verge of fainting. I've had three piercings within the last two years, and all three times I've been left in shock and almost collapsed - what kind of a piercing studio makes you walk down stairs - when you're in SHOCK!? There's that scene in Saw II where the chic is pushed into a pit of needles... needless to say I almost fainted on the couch - in front of all my friends. All those bloody needles

I don't like it, it's debilitating and there's no reason for it. I never used to be afraid of them, in fact I was always the one who wasn't scared of going for injections/vaccinations.

Alcar...

What about this thing?

West, Jim West, desperado.

I have the needle thing. I still get vaccinations/injections though. The only thing I can't do is get blood tests, that scares me so fucking much. One time I had this medical problem, and they said that having a blood test was a way to find out what was wrong with me, and I never got it. Not too proud of that, because it never truly sorted itself out.

I am quite the sissy and will not allow a needle anywhere near my body unless not having it would be life threatening. Two years ago my job had flu vaccinations. I went to the room, sat down, put out my arm, and then promptly said that "fuck that" and left after seeing the needle.

I'm arachnophobic too but it does not bother me in videogames.Of course,in real life they scare the crap out of me,even the tiny ones(i know i sound like a wuss but its just one thing i cant do anyhthing about). If im watching a movie with any spiders in it,however, thats still frightens me as much.

I guess I can understand the fear of needles... it is somewhat self-perpetuating, because injections are only bad when you make them bad.

And seeing a spider is only bad when you make it bad. Think about it. Every time an arachnophobe sees a spider, they get terrified. Therefore they see spiders as scary. Quod erat dupum.

Is that sarcasm I detect? The sarc-filter known as the Internet is still functioning, I see.

I just mean, I've seen people afraid of needles scrunch their eyes tight with the most amusing expression of anguish, their muscles tense, especially where the needle goes, and all in all make it incredibly difficult for themselves, it isn't surprising that it hurts when you do all that.

Funnily enough emetophobia (fear of vomiting) doesn't quite work in the same way.

Instead of making you more likely to throw up it makes you more likely to choke >.< which I admit makes the idea of the next vomit even less pleasurable.

So you could argue that a phobia creates a self fullfiling prophecy I.E. because you fear it it seems worse.

Although this doesn't work for cancer or other diseases seeing as it's proven that a negative approach or denial of cancer can help overcome it. Funny how psychosomatic disorders work really.

Sarcastic? No. Serious? Definitely not. Although having a fear, or even just a dislike, of something will make some people reassure themselves that they can’t stand the can’tstandee in question, and be able to feel acutely all the pain/discomfort/bad taste that the can’tstandee doesn’t in fact cause.

When we were learning to draw blood samples in school I got paired up with the morbidly obese cow that just happened to be deathly afraid of needles.

Before making my first attempt, I asked her why she was afraid. She responded with, "Because every time I get a shot, or blood taken, the needle ends up breaking or bending!"

I figured she was just being a dramatic little turd, so I went forward. Right as I got the needle in, she let out a tremendous "aaaaaaaaaack!" and swung her left arm in a large arc. The needle broke off, she popped me in the mouth with her economy sized hand, and blood sprayed every where.

She pretty much ruined my scrubs.

The worst part? I received a lower grade thanks to the stream of profanities that flew out of my bloody mouth. Why? Because we were being graded on Bedside manner.

EDIT: The worst part was having to make a trip to the hospital to have the blood drawn out of my already tender arms [we had been practicing all week]. Because her blood sprayed into my mouth/left eye, I had to be tested for diseases.

Shit bad luck, that sounds horrible. Damn fatties.

But FUCKING CHRIST, why do spiders LOVE me right now? I had real trouble sleeping last night, so I played DS for like 2 hours, and then decided to try sleeping. Then I heard this like scrabbling, like a bird was caught in the corner of my room, so I lit up the wall with my cellphone and there was the HUGEST FUCKING BUSH SPIDER. Claws large enough to make a scratching sound on my walls. Freaked the hell out of me that early in the morning.

See I'm just full of spider stories.

DI, that's an amazing story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm surprised someone with a fear of needles would take up that job...

My main problem with spiders is that pretty much all the ones you get around here are fucking white tails (thanks Australia!) and they aren't a joy. I still can't bring myself to kill them though, it's the glass and the paper everytime, no matter how long it takes.

Yeah, and they're generally decent sized. I can't remember what the size of a normal spider is anymore, because I only ever see these guys.

White tails are the only ones that I kill on sight, because they're nasty fucks. My sister put on a handpuppet as a yungun and one was inside and bit her, made her hand look most gross, and she went to hospital I believe. Funnily enough she is more scared of bees than she is whitetails

Kastere, this was no little spider, he was just a little bit smaller than my hand. aghbag no likey. I like ants though.

Why buy one? Find a large native specimen and breed it.

Or go classic and acquire a species of new world tarantula from your nearest exotic pet store. Expensive, though, for an invertebrate.
