This is great news indeed! Im sure alota fans will be happy that this new game is also on PS2 aswell as Xbox. All news that makes my day, lets hope it keeps rolling in!

PS2, aye? Well, this certainly clears some stuff up. And it's definitely a release next year, so we know The Art of the Oddworld Universe can keep us occupied until then. OWI will certainly be getting a lot more exposure. Fantastic. *ecstatic*

I'm a little bummed about the later release date but the fact that Oddworld nailed down a contract with a good publisher and is going multi-platform is primo. I know this will please a lot of PS2 fan boys who were pissed when MO went exclusive, thus driving up sales and benefitting everyone involved.

I don't play too many EA games. Everybody's played Madden...and I have both LOTR movie games. That's about all the EA games I've played.

I hear EA's latest Bond game was awesome...and the next Bond game they're doing is called "Goldeneye: Rouge Agent." You get to play as an evil dude, so that sounds fun.

Anyway...EA is very popular, so...

EA + OW = OW Popularity

Hopefully a larger fan base will bring back OW merchandise! Whooo!

Once again you are getting confused with EA as a game developer and as a publisher (read my last post for more detail)

Cuz there is one downside on public game biz stocks... theire free to buy and sell. Therefor, if EA just come's up with the right amount of money they can easely buy up the stocks that MS owns and the one's OWI owns. And Lorne would have no choice... if EA wants to buy stocks, legaly there is no way for Lorne to say no to them...

Rubbish. Absolute tosh. MS do whatever it likes with its stock as it owns and controls it. But noone can force Lorne and OWI to do anything with their 50%. And I doubt Lorne and Sherry will sell any more stock cos that means that they will lose their majority owning rights and could be forced to do something they don't want. And Lorne said all along that owning IP was why he formed OWI so selling more stock would work against that dream.

I think OWI made a good business move here. multiplatform is the way to go especially for a big game like Oddworld.

Gizmoid reports that it was OWI themselves who were responcible for the transfer of investment from Atari to Microsoft. But since that's the only place that reports it, I wouldn't take it credibly instantly.

It kind of makes more sense, as Micrsoft then didn't ditch OW only to show their interest again. But on the other, larger hand, it just makes things more bemusing, to me at least.

OW4 being included on the PS2 makes me wonder even more. Maybe we were mostly wrong, and that contract was dependant on Microsoft being the publisher. But since Microsoft now owns half of OWI, you'd think they'd get in there and shout "Oi!", wouldn't you? All quite puzzling.

At least we have confirmation of the EA Games deal. That's one less thing to speculate about, even if we can still worry, if we don't like the company.

EDIT: Thanks Xav. PS2 exclusivity. I only just woke up.

I'm actually very glad it will be on PS2...
I'm sure it would reach a lager public, and so better sold and so OWI makes more profit and the fan base will grow, it's just great!

It think it's a very good thing, plus all the fans that only have a PS2 will come back.

and I'm very glad it's still on Xbox, since I bought the Xbox just for Oddworld, I don't want to change console to follow my favourite world

I'll just have to buy 2 versions now ... the Xbox one when it is released in the US and then the PS2 version a few months later when the Australian release occurs.

I wonder if the Xbox version will have any extra features though. I know of a few games that are available on both Xbox and PS2, and the Xbox version has extra features that aren't on the PS2 version. It would be cool to have like an extra live ammo or something like that in the Xbox version, but it would be annoying if you didn't have both consoles.

Yeah most multi platform games tend to be intresting. Usually the PS2 version is not as good as the X-Box version but still up there. Like it doesn't have all the elements inwhich the X-Box version has.

In agreement with Xavier, it would attract new and previous fans [such as myself] who didnt get an X-Box. Its a good move for OWI. I hope that this Microsoft deal doesn't mess things up, but I don't believe it will.

I'm not sure if the "PS2 programming sucks" statements made by OWI were Micro$oft propaganda forced through them, or if EA is making OWI program it on both platforms against OWI's will, but hopefully the real winners of this odd change are us, the game players.

EDIT: Esus, haven't you ever seen an old Spaghetti Western (ala Clint Eastwood)? Definitely has that feel to it.

Oddworld on PS2 is a good idea, yes. The realease date is going to be early 2005? My dream came true :s OWI did say on the X-factor the game might be realased Dececember 2004.( i'm starting to think is might come out in 2006

) Great find and image! Thats Stranger from the christmas card. I don't he's under water, he would, well die. At first i thought there was a fist, but no a paper it was.

And...I thought OWI said the PS2 couldn't handle their world, and that Xbox was the only machine powerful enough to bring their dreams to reality. Hmmmmm.

The X-Box is just the only console capable of bringing oddworld to life. Its not such a big box for nothing. Where PS2 wants to be trendy and have it small, they lose quality over it to. Which is a dumb as move! HAHA.

I think in the future, the PS serie's will sell less and less. If Sony keeps putting console design above game quality that is.
