Did anyone watch The Knick? Nothing particularly groundbreaking storywise but its rather tried and tested formulas were very well executed I think. Great anachronistic soundtrack, too.

I wrote a big post about how I started watching X-Files then by internet fucked up.

Overall: good show, inconsistent (every episode so far is either amazing or kinda bland), with two great lead characters/actors.

Oh, and I'm on season 3.

I watched Sin City and it was sub-average.

I watched Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and it was fucking fantastic. Dreamworks original / Pixar sequel quality, with a charm of its own.

It gives adults something to laugh at not with cheap double-entendres, but by putting characters in situations that grown-ups find relatably awkward, but kids have yet to experience. Like a mild Curb Your Enthusiasm where every moment of tension is offset by a well-applied visual gag.

I like it a lot too. It was just all around good. The squeal was pretty boring though.

I caught up with Wilfred (US) and The Legend of Korra recently

I reeeeeeeally like the latest season of LoK. I'm not sure whether I like it more than ATLA or not, because on one hand the story telling has been all over the place in LoK and that can get kind of overwhelming at times trying to figure out everything that's going on, and obviously it doesn't handle pacing or character development nearly as well. On the other hand, there's so much going on and so much world building in such a short time I just want more. I love how the spirit world is no longer disconnected from everything else. That's one of those things that make me sit here like "IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES" while vigorously scribbling down shitty fanart of shit that would likely never occur in the show itself. The character development being all over the place makes certain characters that should just be side characters you don't think much about the most interesting characters in the show, while the main cast are kind of bland and not really worth noting.

Also, I think it's very interesting the dark turns this show has made. They've killed what, four characters now on camera in pretty "grim" ways? And most recently they had an air bender take a life by suffocating them. I know it gives the scenarios a heavier impact, but I wonder why they decided to do that.

As for Wilfred, series finale tonight. Not sure where this is going to end up, and not sure how I've felt about this last season. Sometimes it feels like they bench a little too much on the psychological aspect of everything and it just doesn't work.

I've just watched Highlander for the first time. I really enjoyed it, though the film felt "too 80's" in the second half. 7+/10

Highlander II is worth watching for one reason: It is by far, without a doubt, the worst sequel in the history of film. I had my mouth open in disbelief throughout pretty much the entire movie. Seriously. Watch it. It's hilarious.

You have no idea. It actually retcons the story to make them aliens, does an entire prologue to try to make that make sense, and then jumps 100 years into the future where they are attacked by alien immortals riding the hover boards from Back to the Future II. It's amazing.

According to wiki it has a Director's Cut version which is reworked, with removed/added scenes and they removed all the reference that they're aliens now. This version is apparently known to be much better, to the point of being "passable".

I don't know which version to pick

Just started watching Stargate SG1 after LITERALLY YEARS of wanting too. It was on a list along with countless other shows which I never bother watching but want too...

Farscape, Game of Thrones, Star Trek DS9, Breaking Bad...

Anyway, I've only see the first 2 episodes so far and I really like them. I liked the stories and the setting. The characters are also good and already memorable. And just the whole idea of a Stargate is really interesting. So yeah, liking it so far. I'll be sure to give Atlantis a watch too.

I saw The Cat Returns.

It was cute and silly.

I liked it. That makes it the second Ghibli film I could genuinely get into and the only one that didn't bore me at any point.

Small Apartments. It was one of those comedy films with loads of famous people in it that ended up being too weird for its own good. I really liked it, predictably enough.

"I'm afraid your landlord died in a house fire last night."
"Oh my God, is he okay?"
"Uh, no. He's dead."

I marathoned season 5 of Adventure Time this weekend. I never misliked AT but I sort of avoided it for a few years because I felt I'd outgrown cartoons like that.

I was wrong, it's a great show. Some episodes can be snorefests, but it's consistent and there's a nice thrum of activity in the background; little plot threads always shifting and moving forward. I love The Lich; 'FALL'. Yikes.

There are some really good episodes in Season 5. The ending of Lemonhope Part 2 absolutely broke me to pieces.

Need to catch up on AT, stopped somewhere in season 4 and I can't say why. Well, I did think the back story was getting a little convoluted but maybe I just got burnt and sick from how much I watched it last year.

Oh, and does anyone here watch Veep? Cause you should, the newest season is brilliant, might be the best TV I've watched all year. Absolutely hilarious and a little bit disturbing near the end. It's certainly starting to come into its own as a great mix of crude black comedy and political drama. So excited for season 4.

So yeah, I got my hands on Highlander 2. I wanted to obtain the original theatrical release, but I fucked up and got the newer version without really knowing it. Sorry, OANST.

It... it was not horrible. But I understand that it was massively redone/resequenced/rethought. There were no aliens, "Zeist" word never comes up in my 2004 version. Instead the rebel battle was... in the distant past. And the punishment for Connor and Sean Connery was to be exiled... into the future! With immortality! Because why not! As you can see, the alternate version avoids a few retcons while keeping some others and making new ones, but I'm guessing it's still much better than the original. It's still stupid, but I can see it really tries to make sense now (which I guess wasn't the case in the original H2).

There's an (additional) scene where the main evil guy, Katana from the past looks at the tv showing the future footage of MacLeod being old but not yet dead from the natural causes. That makes Japanese-Sword-From-Before-Humanity very angry so he sends his two weird goons to kill him. I have an urge to demand an explanation of how this "time" works, but it'd be hypocritical of me to not follow it with a milion other questions about other plotholes.

I like the actors. In this version, the actor who plays MacLeod has some lines redone and he sounds extremely better than in the original H1. They got rid of the stupid accent, he sounds almost like a decent actor now. I noticed they cut many stupid lines from this version, like any unnecessary narration to make the movie a little better

Sean Connery is surely the highlight of the movie. He's sympathetic and his dialogue is fairly superior than of the other characters. It's almost like he improvised them.

Oh yeah, Sean Connery is alive after H1. Yeah, I know he died for good but he didn't really. You just have to call his name, silly, and he comes back alive.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't find it stupid, my brain is already a bit damaged by the movie.

Oookay, maybe it was horrible. But it was enjoyable (I belive the original wasn't, as there were no improvements to make the movie enjoyable). The 2004 version actually looks nice. There's Doctor Cox from Scrubs here. He's a bad business guy. He's really entertaining to watch.

The ending is different. The girl and Connor don't fly to the different planet. Or even the past. They just are on earth and hapy end.
