He left the forums beacause the Lvl. files and the level creater was near impossible so he gave up and left.

Such a shame, he was a great Member.

This has probably been asked a thousand times, but what is OWI's stance on releasing engine files for AO and AE? Do they have a specific reason why they don't want to? It's been over 12 years, you'd assume they could at least just toss us their old stuff.

Well they said to me they can't access their AO and AE assets because "there deeply buried in our archives".

So in other words, there proberbly on a magnetic tape somewhere gathering poisonus dust.

It is ‘archived’. It would require effort to dig it out and make it consumer-presentable, especially since they have no programming staff. And they would get what out of it? Obviously nothing they particularly prioritize.

I thought it would be in a place where they would be able to get it easily. I mean, how hard can it be to find something digital?

They wouldn't get anything out of it I guess, except for fans being able to create their own puzzles which would own to infinity. It would keep us entertained until they release their movies

Well, Phylum, Paul got pretty damn far with just the basic stuff from the game before he gave up on it. You'd be surprised how many people can backwards engineer pieces of coding.

They're all command line tools, so go to start and run and open a command prompt ( cmd.exe on NT OS's or command.com on 9x ) then use the cd command to go to the folder with the tool in it, then type its name camtool.exe and it will display how to use it (I'd tell you but I don't even remeber what options I put in it :P)
BTW I'll prolly make a GUI version soon since most of you seem to be stumped when it comes to command line stuff.

Yerh, I mean I know everything about level editing the Oddworld games I could even help people create a whole entire game just like Abe's Exoddus, but I'm too busy shouting at chavs to piss off and to stop tring to steal my outdoor parasol.

OMG! OMG! I ripped out the abe's oddysee and exoddus song files!!!!!!!!
Here are the abe's exoddus ones. i used seq2mid converter the BNQ Files are seq files! LOL!

so heres a tool to convert cams to bmp and replace the image in a cam file with another bmp.. was too lazy to write a readme so just run it with no args to figure out how to use it

There is the only piece on info I found with a 5min search

Hi all

i have downloaded the archive containing the level's backgrounds and the two folders "sprites01" and "sprites02" whit some animation but i noticed that animation about walking, running, sneaking or jumping for Abe character or other character are missing.

Someone have that type of animation ?

I have a few of the missing ones, but there under permission by Carnix. Look him up and send him a PM if you would like them, because I'm not obliged to give them out.

The file format is Adobe Flash 8 (FLA), but I'm sure he could change that, like I said, ask him.
