Dead Internet Relationships.

Whoo-hoo! Now what?! Huh?!

Anyway, what do you think about this little ritual? It could be seen as unhealthy, but what if you've actually seen this person? Do think that you could really love (or just be infatuated with) someone over the internet?

EDIT: Ah, poop. I meant to add a poll to the post. Oh well...

I dont think anyone can really know if they love you or not if you are so far apart.. I mean they could be cheating on u and u'd never know

~Miss Odd Serenity

P.S But if the love is real, then sure.. it could work

Un-healthy if you haven't met the person.
If you have been going out with that person and then he/she moves away and your staying in contact over the net thats ok...it will never last though.

I cant stand Internet Relationship people, usually its a way for them to feel wanted as they're mainly geeks or ugly twats anyway...pardon my language.

(Apologies to anyone who fits the above category)

I don't even realize how you can love someone over the internet. I mean, even if you have a pic of them, it could be false, and being infatuated (which I thiknk will almost always be the case) you could easily think they wouldn't lie to you. Plus, you just like the way they type. Ugh.

Anyways, I wouldn't like the idea even if you could ever hold an undying love over the interent. I mean, you can never kiss them, have sex, or poke their heads...

Yep, Jacob does have a point...

And I never want to do the whole internet relationship thing, as it seems rather silly. But after school I do talk to many girls online that I know quite well from school, but the internet chat it an extremely small fraction of our time spent together.

I think an internet relationship can be a dangerous thing unless you know the person and have met. But if not, whoes to say that person is lieing? You never know the person can tell you one thing and then later on it's like "oops Im in trouble now there is a strange guy stalking me with a gun or a knife and he is going to kill me or rape me!" By then it would be too late. All because of a harmless online relationship. However, that is not alweys the case. sometimes they are harmless but I would think they won't last.

It's a dangerous world out there and I think online relationships is a risk that you ultimatly have to decide wether it is wise or not.

Online relationships are stupid, and a waste of time.

So is love.

Just go out and have tons of meaningless sex....until you find someone that you want to repeatedly have meaningless sex with, and thus, it becomes meaningful.

You'll eventually be tied down by some nagging bitch in stretch pants/some obese, balding, plaid loving cock on legs, so why bother going slow now?

Go get laid....or get into a good relationship.

Heh, yesterday I was going to create a thread about this, but I changed my mind. Doesn't matter now, I suppose.

Online relationships... I have mixed feelings about them. For someone of my nature, it's very possible to fall in love over the internet. I am not at all interested in a person's appearance, only their intelligence and personality; since sitting behind a computer screen is far less intimidating than talking to a person face-to-face, the conversation becomes more intimate and you form closer friendships. I've met some beautiful, beautiful people over the internet, and I trust them. They trust me. We've sent each other gifts through snail-mail, written to one another by hand, spoken to one another as you would over the telephone (with voice chat), sung to one another, written poetry... you get the general idea.

I have formed closer relationships with my "Real life" (I despise that term) friends by using the internet.

Blogs come into this, too. If you haven't experienced it, you have no idea how beautiful it is to share thoughts and emotions with deep, intelligent friends whom you love.

On the other hand, it is heartbreaking to feel such tenderness for a person that both of you can hardly type, only to know that such separate love is forbidden and impossible. To not be able to even give a gentle kiss on the cheek...

Wow Oddness, thats a very interesting point you made there. I think alot of what you said is true. People have there own opinions on how this works and all. Some people think it's a waste of time. Others are scared of it. And some really don't understand. But that made alot of sense. Syd can you explain to me exactly how online relationships are a perversion of nature? I mean you stated that, but did not give us a explanation. Anyways seeya guys soon.

I don't find anything wrong with them. I've had one myself. I think it's just something people do. You can have internet relationships, a lot of them has ended in marriage. Of course, lots has ended in less nice things... But what doesn't?

Ahem.

RAR!! I did this a min ago...how thourougly pissy!!

:
But after school I do talk to many girls online that I know quite well from school, but the internet chat it an extremely small fraction of our time spent together.
As do i. Not as much now though, i got bored of my friends...

:
it's like "oops Im in trouble now there is a strange guy stalking me with a gun or a knife and he is going to kill me or rape me!"
Yes, lets learn from PA's experience and not have online with relationships with girls called 'Cindy' who are blonde with a EE cupsize and who is a cheerleader and who sends foto's of herself naked with her legs apart and when asked;

"Why is your hair Blonde in that one? Brown in that one? And Red in that one?"

she replies with;

"Ermm...i dye my hair alot."

And lets not forget 'Harris' the muscular 6 ft 5 guy with a 6 pack (Yum) and dark features. Who also has a 11.5 inch penis. Because...well, lets face it. Harris is a 46 yr old virgin, still living with his mum, has grey, if not any hair, is obeise and smells...and also has a 11.5 mm penis. And Cindy is a 89 yr old slut who has saggy reproductive organs and drooping feeding sacks. And is toothless. And has elastic skin...and no hair. Or worse, Harris/Cindy is your dad/mum in the next room...viiiiiiile!!

:
sometimes they are harmless
Still, they can still follow you, send you things, leave used condoms on your doorstep and steal and smell your dirty underwear...

:
Myself and Fred have been having an online relationship. He lives in America.
DO NOT...and i repeat...DO NOT. Go on Yahoochat and in the fetish lounge for Americans. I swear down you guys have the most freakyest people alive. I was speaking to one...he believed i was a gorg female (I sent a foto of a friend) whom was in the porn industry. I was trying to get him to send me money to my PO Box email thing. Convo went like this;

Guy: "So, what stuff do you specialise in...?"

Me: "Anything?"

Guy: "Animal stuff?"

Me: "Ermm...yes."

Guy: "Can i shed myself on your face and tits and then watch my dog do the same."

Me: "You can if you send me some money to get over to America with."

Guy: "But your in the industry, you must make millions."

Me: "I cant use it for pleasure."

Guy: "Can i impreganate you."

Me: "What!?"

Guy: "Can i place my seed in you to develop?"

Me: "Bye."

And then i was speaking to another one into Lactation...*Shudders* God knows how he got into that fetish!!

:
For someone of my nature, it's very possible to fall in love over the internet.
Are you of the...you know...geeky nature? (Actual question)

:
I am not at all interested in a person's appearance, only their intelligence and personality
A cute guy walks in, whats the first thing you notice? His looks. So looks doesn factor in it. Besides its in out genetic make-up. And you cant instinctivly see if they're clever or something by just looking...

:
since sitting behind a computer screen is far less intimidating than talking to a person face-to-face
Hmmm. Hard one this. Do i talk to random strangers on the comp, meet them, get kidnapped, molested, killed, gutted, molested once more for goodluck and then cast away like a rag-doll. OR meet a guy face to face, feel intimidated...take him to meet my friends, allow people to see him...go home...and have my way with him...Hmmm. Intimidation...Dangerousness...Intimidation...Dangerousness. God, this is soooooo hard!!

:
the conversation becomes more intimate
Whoa, what sort of convo's have you been having you little, minx.

:
(1)I've met some beautiful, beautiful people over the internet,(2) and I trust them
(1) - Oooooohhh, you should have said you were partially sighted!!

(2) - Because they are very far away. And if they did tell someone your secret...the person who heard would go;

"Who...Why...What...Who are you?"

:
They trust me
See above.

:
We've sent each other gifts through snail-mail
Easter - A dead Rabbit.
Valentines - A human Heart.
Christmas - A dead Midget dressed in an Elf costume.
Thanksgiving - A native American...and a Turkey.
Birthday - A picture of him...naked...sprawled out in an erotic manner.

:
written to one another by hand
While you are writing with your own hand, he is writing with somebody elses. His victims infact. A Old Aged Pensioner who was knitting to herself, singing 60's hits when all of a sudden a man...a man dressed in a Star Trek outfit smashed through the window, stating the words;

"Your mine, bitch!!"

In Klingon...and then he ate her. And now he is using her hand as a writing utensil.

:
spoken to one another as you would over the telephone (with voice chat),
I wouldn't consider moaning down the fone talking...

:
sung to one another
Nor would i consider moaning down the fone rythmically singing.

:
written poetry
Yours in Pen...his in Betty's (The sweet old lady) blood.

:
I have formed closer relationships with my "Real life" friends by using the internet.
Two words...Cyber-slut

:
whom you love.
And have never met...

:
Online relationships are a perversion of nature.
Oh, hello.

:
On the other hand, it is heartbreaking to feel such tenderness for a person that both of you can hardly type, only to know that such separate love is forbidden and impossible. To not be able to even give a gentle kiss on the cheek...
Why dont you just fancy some who is out of your league?

There always is that danger. But people like to place this stereo-type about internet relationships. That stereo type is usually bad. but you know, it's up to you to be the judge of that. There is a more bright side, and happier endings to it. But in other cases not to happy. The media will always bring out the internet's bad side and never really show it's positives. So I will leave you with you're own opinion.

Kai, most people who use the Internet constantly are freaks. Their social skills are incredibly low, they dont like person to person contact and they still live with their parents. Now, think of it...a 45 yr old still living with his parents, is that natural? (I say natural cos i dont believe in normality). No, t'is not.

Guys and girls whom spend the majority of their time on the internet are not natural and are mainly ugly. Paedophiles and rapists are finding it harder and harder to lure people and children into their traps and kidnap their victims and thus turn to the internet to find the no-lifers and little, naive children. It works.

People whom live their lives naturally, go out, drink, have fun, socialise person to person are alot less likely to do such bad things. Sure, you get the exceptions. But the net is swamped with the Lices and Bacteria of the social-class and social world. As i say, they're the Cockroaches of the social ladder...

lol @ PA...that was soooo scary.

Once again Jacob, you have proven that there is this stereo-type that goes along with the internet. But alot of what you said is true. But now get away from the majority, by that I mean most of the internet users. Look at the ones left over. So what about them? There are those that meet on the internet, they get to meet eachother, sometimes they get married, or just stay good friends. It's practical that good can come out of it. But like I said, alot of people like to relate to the bad side of it. Alot of people don't take chances. I don't think I am a freak, my social skills are very good, I enjoy person to person contact, however I do live with my parents...because of my age But thats just pertaining to me. I am sure there are those that are rather...freakish. Anyway thats my take on this.

Waiting for her, talking with the weirdos that walk in there, talking with friends. I stay in there for hours, and I stay on the forums for hours. Because for one, living in the country can get boring. Going to the beach all day can get old. So when I have nothing to do, wich I have alot of, I can stay here. Not to change the subject but I came home about 12 midnight yesterday from my football game Had fun though. Anyways...yeah thats all I have to say for now.

Okay, some of that was very slightly amusing, but Jacob - you obviously don't know the meaning of a true friendship. Fine, go and have your shallow little relationships, it doesn't bother me at all.

If a person has any amount of grey matter whatsoever, they'll know to be careful and not scream out their home address, last name, mother's maiden name etc. to just anybody they meet on the internet. I am naturally a paranoid person, believe it or not, and it takes a lot to earn my trust. You meet the best and the worst of people over the internet.

Maybe I am a geek. I don't know. I go out to movies, parties and shopping with friends (no, I don't drink often, I'm underage), do sport, get reasonable grades. What I don't do is spend half my life on the Oddworld forums where half the users are younger than me, analysing people's posts for "level of geekiness".

And for god's sake, I don't visit chatrooms or have cybersex!

By the way, I have a friend who casually made friends with this man over the internet - they're now engaged and living together. It does happen.

I am quite irritated.

you obviously don't know the meaning of a true friendship
Quite contraire. I do. I grow bored though...they're nice while they last though...

:
Fine, go and have your shallow little relationships
Shallow no...vicious yes...

:
If a person has any amount of grey matter whatsoever, they'll know to be careful and not scream out their home address, last name, mother's maiden name etc.
Yes, but they prey on little kids. The small and stupid kind and the older people whom are ugly and desperate...

:
You meet the best and the worst of people over the internet.
Worst - 90%, Best - 10%

:
What I don't do is spend half my life on the Oddworld forums where half the users are younger than me, analysing people's posts for "level of geekiness".
Was that a dig at me? Cos its got me very moist...

:
And for god's sake, I don't visit chatrooms or have cybersex!
You weren't saying that last night...

:
By the way, I have a friend who casually made friends with this man over the internet - they're now engaged and living together. It does happen.
Its nice to hear that the blind still get married...

:
I am quite irritated.
Crabs can be irritating...so i hear...ahem.

Now now Oddness don't let that clown Jacob get you down. lol He can be funny...but anyway to the point. Like I said, there are a very few that in the end come out to be a happy relationship, that started via internet. Thats the ones that people hear the least of. So there is a possibilty that some do work. I have nothing further to say unless, anything would be directed back to me...
