I think those things work on the philosophy of "every letter has a meaning, so your name's meaning is made up of those meanings". I was doing a search engine thing to see if my site would come up anywhere, as an aside (it didn't, but then I didn't think it would) and staggered across the meaning of "slig" if you gave a kid that for a name (poor kid) and it was actually rather amusing...
