A female as a main character?

I was looking around oddworldian and I noticed an interview with Lorne and this is what he had to say about females!

:

Munch's Oddysee will reveal the Mudokon Queen, who's name is Sam. It will also start to reveal Maggie, the Glukkon Queen. As the Quintology unfolds, we will see a lot more females. Some of them heroes, some of them enemies. However, you won't see much of the traditional 'boy meets girl' scenarios in our material.

He states in there that some females will be heroes and some enemies, and so far OWI have been refering to Abe and Munch as the heroes, so mabey not all the queens are huge and mabey not all the females are queens so mabey there is one that just might continue the Oddworld Quintology!

Hmm... you have a point there. Perhaps we will see species where there are equal parts male and female.

That's great news. I was saying to my friend the other day "Notice how there are no female characters in the Oddworld games?", and now we're finally gonna see some.

I would hate for Oddworld to be a male-dominated environment, anyway.

A male dominated universe? Technically, we have seen no males on Oddworld. We have seen females, however: Sam and Maggie.

But logicly if you fave a Female, you must have got a Male, because without Males => no baby...

i truly think that oddworld will be done with before there are any female heros abe and munch will probably be the last of the oddowrld heros. but you never know what the furture brings

there will be 5 heros introduced throughout the series. Abe was the first, Munch is the second. Squeek is the third according to rumors. After that there will be 2 more heros. So there is a chance that at least one of them is female.

Statikk, the original plot of Munch's Oddysee involved Munch trying to steal the last remaining jar of Gabbiar, and Abe trying to rescue the queen Mudokon Sam. Abe and Munch's situations were to have disagreed with each other, resulting in a dysfunctional relationship. Now that Sam has been taken out of the game, it seems like half the story is missing.

yeah, sex-wise we've seen:

Drones/workers
Machines - which are kinda like the previeous catagory

Actually I read somewhere that Shrinks keep Maggie the Glukkon queen stable, but they might be with Sam too.
About what you said Gluk, I always thought of Gabbits as the same type as humans. But if that's true, then Gabbiar would be more plentiful. I mean, If there was only one cow left, we wouldn't run out of milk for a while. I don't know. Maybe Glukkons just REALLY overused it. Who knows.

What the hey? Why is everyone talking female vs. male? In Oddworld, it has always been equal. At least that's what I think, not that anyone else seems to. To me, all those 399+ muds from the Abe games were a mixture a masculine and feminine. I mean, it says right on the freaky OW page that Abe "has no reproductive organs". Some of you don't seem to understand what that means. It means NEUTRAL!!! Not male - not female! Why is everyone so hooked up on this gender thing? Oddworld is not like Earth. There are not perverted stereotypes there like there are here (at least on genders. Some on species though)!

You know I am glad if they removed Queen Sam, if she was just a "Damsel in Distress" anyway, then why bother??

Abe isn't male--look at him! Inside and out, he has BOTH of the eearthly genderal stereotypes...

His body:
Broad shoulders, big feet, big hands,six-pack abs...masculine.

Bust-waist-hip curves like a female's...also has the big eyes, which is a female stereotype...high, non-guteral voice...long hair.

His soul (according to the stereotypes):
Brave, fierce, (sometimes) violent, powerful, dominating (glukkonns).

Sensative, emotional, shy, sympathetic, gentle.

---

Now of course these are Stereotypes. I'm certainly not trying to say that guys can't be sympathetic or girls can't be fierce. But i just want to say that Oddworld is NOT a unigenderal planet! there is Yin AND Yang. Trust me.

sorry about the emotional outburst, but equality was always my favorite part about Oddworld! I really honor the OWI for being so consistant in their equal m/f inclusion, and their blasphemes against this so-called god, the Stereotype. Oddworld has been a very inspiring experience to me, and i suppose I'll die defending it. BTW: I also honor them above all game makers for never introducing sexual material into their games, and never using the "boy meets girl" plot. It has always been equal, always been positive, and always been Odd.

I don't think Sam has been taken out of MO. Probably she will not appear, but will certainly be part of the story, as Maggie, the glukkon queen.
