Meeches are extinct... Deal with it.

Meeches are extinct right?
Yes.
So why do people keep thinking that they aren’t?

Well my theory is that Meeches are a Myth. A so call Lock Ness. The only role of Meeches to my knowledge is to show the audience at Home how ruthless the Glukkons really are. But because we know about them, we think that they still exist. And like the Lock Ness Monster, people still believe that they are out there. But no matter how much you look, you will never find them.

Now I know the rest of you guys like Meeches and would wish that they will magically appear as an Oddworld Main Hero, but I think it will spoil the whole Oddworld Experience. Now if Meeches still do exist then, who's to say that Munch wasn't the last Gabbit? There might be another lot of Gabbits on the other side of Oddworld. Well if Meeches aren’t extinct then who knows? And if a Meech did turn up as a main character then wouldn't it be like Munch all over again? All we want is a Recycled storyline.

So I say let Meeches die, because if they were to be seen in Oddworld then it would just be an in-justice to the whole Oddworld Genre.

Dead

I completely agree, Wolfpac. Meeches were created by OWI to remember us that right now, in this very moment, the last individual of some wild species is about to die, and when it happens, that species is gone for good. Several wild creatures have already disappeared from the world because of the greedy industries that destroy their natural environments. Once they are extinct, they won't never come back, because their genetic signature is lost forever. So, keep the meeches dead, as a reminder of the dark future that expects us if nothing can be done to change the way we treat our world.

There was a rumour going around a while ago that a pack of meeches were discovered on a lost plateau somewhere in the untouched regions of Oddworld. According to Alf, the Glukkons scooped them up and put them in a hunting preserve.

I have absolutely no doubt that Meeches will never ever 'come back to life'. However, the path Lorne is following is a 'middle way':

We will see Meeches living naturally, though not nessecarily in 'our time' ie The Era of Marching Mudokons and Freedom Fuzzles. Keep in mind that Hand of Odd was at one point going to be set in the past.

Oh, and if you think that takes away the 'Oddworldiness', maybe it does, but it has always been in the story.

I'm sure Lorne will keep us guessing about this kind of stuff until the end of the quintology. Who knows what that guy is thinking up.
