Question Monitor Doesn't support TF2.

I Know it a weird thread for this forum but All you members who know a thing about TF2 and Steam please try and help me out

I have a Problem with my Monitor when i load TF2.
The Game plays perfectly but i can't see it. its just a black screen with a message MODE NOT SUPPORTED
You see i tried to change my Screen Revolution in TF2 Menu - Options
Then i changed it one of the higher ones and my screen doesn't support it.

I've already tried Delete the local content and re-installed it and it did nothing

It was a stupid mistake and i ask is there any way to change it back to the default settings

My Monitor is a EM-170
Monitor Type Flat Panel LCD TFT (Active Matrix)
Size 17 inch
Max. Resolution 1280 x 1024
Native (Recommended) Resolution 1280 x 1024

You have to change the game's resolution to a lower or equal to the one your monitor supports. Also, could you post your dxdiag report?

:
How to include a DxDiag report:

In Windows XP:

1: Click on Start Menu (Start Button)
2: Click on "Run" on the right hand side.
3: Type "dxdiag" (minus quotes) in the dialogue box that appears.
4: Hit "Ok" or press enter.
5: Wait for the progress bar, bottom left, to complete.
6: Click on "Save All Information" and then save it to a text file in a location of your choosing.
7: Open the text file that you just created, select all ([CTRL]+[A]), copy ([CTRL]+ [C]) and then paste it ([CTRL]+[V]) in your forum message.

In Windows Vista or 7:

1: Type "dxdiag" (minus quotes) in the search box that is above the Start Button
2: Follow steps 4 - 7 above.
(i lifted that from ubisoft's forums)

It's not the resolution, it's the refresh rate. Most cheap panels don't support refresh rates beyond 75Hz. Find the option to set it to 72Hz or even 60Hz and you ought to be fine.

If Steam is harnessing DirectX, then you'll need to set the option in the dxdiag. Otherwise, refresh rates can be set using the windows Display control panel under advanced options.

In addition to waht Pilot said, check that the game isn't pushing out too low a refresh rate. Many monitors can't handle anything under 60Hz.
