We were indeed both doing it.

So if ever I'm asked about the sweat on the sheets 'Psionic empathy' is what I'll tell them.
If you were both doing it, it may have been some kind of empathic link. I've heard of it before happening between owners and pets, but i'm pretty sure it can happen between people who are very close, even if they show no "psychicness" at all.

I don't really know much about since I don't have one myself, in fact all this psychicness may even just be a massive "i'm your brain and i'm going to screw you over".

they were both having a wank. mystery solved. there's no great connection or 'psychic power'.

not so mystical now, is it?

i'll tell them Santa is a fat, balding man who only works once a year. his job involves breaking and entering with a getaway vehicle waiting outside. all goods are most probably the work of child slave labour, not 'elfs', and his money comes from the reindeer he lets out to lonely Inuit's the rest of the year.

then i'll burst into their room screaming "hohoho".

I have a bad habit of taking almost everything seriously, but i'm also quite hard to insult, so no harm done

when i was a small child, we used to have an old telly (this was when we were getting really bad stuff going on that i had no idea about), and on top of it we had a little orange plant. one morning someone came down the stairs and found a residue had dripped from a leaf onto the telly top. but the residue was frozen, as if it were a thin string of hard treacle.

didn't know what the fuck it was. someone was staying in the living room at the time, and they had heard the frankly strange things that had been going on, too. it freaked them out. anyway, knocking was heard from upstairs. isn't a big house, so it sounded like someone was stamping their feet up in one of the rooms. now, it fucking frustrates me when people say they heard knocking, because its so common, easily proven to be something else, and incredibly cliché.

well anyway, it started again, except this time it sounded fucking angry (so i have been told). it gave about 16 odd hard knocks in quick succession, and stopped. then someone touched the hard strand, and it snapped delicately, triggering a tremendous thump from upstairs. went to investigate, and found the bathroom basin smashed, with the vase that was originally sat on the bathroom windowsill stood in the broken basin, flowers still in it. the vase wasn't even cracked.

one thing i forgot to mention in my blog, was when someone found a picture of my family on the living room floor, with a monkey teddy sat on top. right in the middle of the room. in the same few minutes, i was upstairs and a lightbulb fell and hit me on the head. the light had been shining moments previous. apparently we stayed somewhere else for a few days after that.

i want to get out this fucking house, now.

About 6 years ago we left my Dad's house (Mum got devorced) and we rented a nearby council house (which we left a year later).

I have no idea about the history of the place but we're sure it was haunted. There would be footsteps during the night and sometimes my brother and sister claimed they could see someone's shadow through the bottom of the door, open it and noone was there. I never had any of these experiances myself because anything ghost related only seemed to happen when I was asleep.

Although the wierdest one happened to my Mum a couple of times, she would be in bed and wake up during the night to see a figure in the room who looked exactly like me and disappear.

Maybe I just wasn't haunted because I looked like one of the ghosts, but it's still strange.

I've never had any paranormal experience and I don't expect to. Not least because I won't interpret an unusual experience as paranormal even if anyone else is. I may not ever find an explanation for such an experience, but I find "I don't know" to be a hell of a lot more satisfying than jumping to a conclusion that coincidentally (or rather, not) happens to correspond to a culturally significant myth. At the very least, a mystery is an incentive to find out, whereas an unsubstantiated conclusion closes the door on further investigation, or at least colours any further investigation and sets the scene for some substantial confirmation bias.

Of course, finding out that, say, ghosts are real removes them from the world of paranormal and into the world of the normal. I have mentioned in the past the concept of the "perinormal", which consists of that which is considered paranormal but is in fact a real phenomenon waiting to be properly discovered, studied and explained.

Then again, when I consider the universe as we know it, grand, majestic and mysterious as it is, and look back into geological time, the genomes of modern animals, and consider existence as a whole, the idea that the human species alone is somehow able to transcend matter and energy and persist after its metabolic processes have come to and end and continue to affect the world in some way is just patently ridiculous. The psychological, sociological and neurological routes to explaining bizarre experiences seems infinitely more sensible by comparison.
