The Neverhood
An old, old game created from claymation. I've got it around in my house, somewhere. Anyway, after seeing Ziggy's avatar for the hundreth time, I finally remembered where it was from, and I re-discovered the brilliance of this game.
It's a mind-bender, and really tests your patience sometimes. For example, one way to complete the story of The Neverhood is to find tablets that you insert into a machine periodically located throughout the game. The brilliance of this is that you get the tablets so out of order that it makes you want to watch all of them in sequence. It's very difficult to find them all, and some take forever to get to.
One of them is aquired by walking past a countless number of screens, until you get to the end. But located on these walls you walk by is a complete, thorough timeline of every event in the game's history.
Other puzzles are hilarious, like making a dummy of yourself out of dynamite while a man-eating giant dog thing attempts to break into the room you're cowering in. It falls for the dummy, only to explode seconds later from it.
Another memorable moment is the Burp Tree. You pull down a fruit from the branch, take a huge bite, and burp for a second. If the player takes another, you burp longer. You take another, you go longer, until it starts to shorten up. On the last one, however, you burp for almost 5 minutes straight.
It's kind of an underground game, so I'm not expecting most of you to know about it, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Ziggy can probably recount more than me, since I haven't played it in years.
