I keep an open mind. Keeping abreast of ghostology is as interesting a social social science as it is a pure science. I’ve never had a supernatural experience myself (apart from those aliens), but I do have a ghost‐related anecdote about something that happened to me a few nights ago.
I was enjoying an all‐nighter (I believe I stayed up until 9 a.m.), when at some early hour (3 or maybe 4 a.m.), I left my room to make myself a cup of tea in the shared kitchen. I was all ajitter having procrastinated on Facebook and discovered the story of the ghost that haunts the hall of residence I happen to live in. Now this was several weeks after the supposed single night a year the ghost is supposed to hear, and in a completely different building, but despite my rational beliefs, I get very jumpy at times. Once my tea was made, and tiptoed back to my room, and found a very white figure stumbling towards me through the darkness. Instinctively I ducked to the edge of the corridor so he wouldn’t collide with me, but he lurched towards me, only noticing me and stumbling in the other direction just a few inches in front of me. I didn’t turn to watch it move away, I just headed for my room and locked the door.
I guess the freaky, pale‐skinned, scantily‐clad guy was some combination of tired, drunk, and high. Quite why he had to come and use our toilets I don’t know. Anyway, I manage to see him during every meal time now, out of a population of 800.
