Jack Thompson, the anti-violent video game activist, has spoken up against games such as Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt, The Sims, and Bully, for it's gory/adult content and claims to be the reason for society's violent behavior. I was wondering why Jacky boy hasn't complained about the Oddworld series as well.

I mean, think about it, you play a slave *that just screams 'bdsm'...it's so pornographic that I feel perverted...THANKS ODDWORLD INHABITANTS FOR WARPING MY FRAGILE, INNOCENT MIND WITH YOUR SICK IMAGINATION!* and what's even worse is that he's being severely mistreated by his captors, what message is that saying...racism anyone? Why don't you just invite the KKK while you're at it!

Then, you can possess and control your enemies, that's satanism at best! Keep your evil thoughts to yourself, don't put them in a video game...devil worshippers.

Not to mention the random acts of violence that occurs....such as:
animated beatings= the reason behind the bullying in schools!
pixellated shootings= the cause of gang warefare!!
explosions= the effect I have after I eat a bowl of chilli!!!
EVERYTHING HAS A SINFUL MESSAGE! BOYCOTT VIOLENTNESS..AND ALL THINGS ADULTERATED I TELL YA! BECAUSE I'LL BE DAMNED IF I EVER HAVE TO READ THE CLASSIFICATION AND/OR CONTENTS OF ANY PRODUCT!!

In all seriousness, what do you think of Jack Thompson and other anti-game protestors trying to control what we play?

This guy seems like a real jerk, how could he say that? People play these games for FUN! Oddworld isn't really that bad anyway, you don't see THAT much gore, he can't say what we play! Totally off-yopic but, do you guys like my little rolling banner in my sig, if you don't I'll take it off, or if I'm not allowed it I'm sorry!

I dunno; Abe is a rather moral character. Most of the bad stuff in the games happens to him rather than by him.

Lmao, good point nate_dog, he usually gets ground up, shot, exploded, eaten, but I'd say it isn't that gory, only when Abe explodes, bits of meat flying all over the place, eugh!

- Well, that depends on if you want the good game ending...or the bad game ending. I mean, you can kill your fellow mudokons, you can beat them, shoot them, explode them etc etc...so, I'd say most of the bad stuff doesn't happen by Abe if you choose not to.

But it's not the purpose of the game like GTA is.

And don't give me no bull about how you don't have to follow the missions; the fact is that the oddworld games (SW excepted) reward you for doing good and punish you for doing bad.

Well, in GTA you get wanted levels, and by obtaining them...there are consequences, you could go to jail or hospital. So, it does *on some level* punish you for doing bad. It's not like the cops start skipping and patting you on the back everytime you shoot a geriatric in the face. More along the lines off:
1 star- *cop chases you...smacks you around*
2 stars- *screw words...where's my beretta?*

Eh, like it really matters if video games are violent when shows like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard are being shown regularly at 2 central time. And hey, have you ever tried to watch the news, even in prime time? War, terrorist activity, murder, pedophilia, rape, assault and battery, etc. The news is Adults Only. How about all those crime shows like Special Victims Unit? Yay, twice a day during prime time there is an hourlong show about violent sex-based crime!
Video games come rated, with descriptive boxes, with the ability to be blocked from consoles(Xbox, at least). In many states its a criminal offense to sell MA games to minors. What more do these babies want, anyhow? I think its one of two things
1: Election Day posturing, and trying to get that "morality" vote. See Thompson, Lieberman, Clinton
2: Pharisees trying to impose their warped sense of morality on others like Focus on the Family. These people can take it in the ass from a spiked cattle prod for all I care.

I dislike the "videogames make you violent" clause. It's a lump of turd, really. That's why they have age ratings. I wouldn't agree with Bully though. That's just sad and a lump of absolute s*it. And extra points for killing policeman is feeble too.

Does shooting a paper target in air rifle practice make you want to shoot real people? Because that is virtual "war" like many games are, yet you don't see anybody wanting to ban that.
