Okay so I got the G15 for a cheap price, finaly! The LCD display is cool, does it job like it's supposed to and is already a good asset to my gaming hours. Being able to see your score, kills and deaths without having to 'tab' the game is pretty nice.
When starting out with the keyboard I had hoped the macro's would actualy come in handy though. But it would appear that for games like BF2 they hardly are. I can do an action faster manualy, then when I would program the action into the keyboard and have him do it for me. Not to mention that the buttons just are on the wrong side. For an FPS at least. For RPG's and the like, where constant movement is not always required, it doesn't realy matter. But in and FPS, where you can't afford to lose contact with your keyboard or your mouse when you're in a fight, you instantly notice that the macro keys are in a very anoying position. You can't realy operate most of them without lifting your entire hand, which either paralizes your ability to move, or your ability to turn. Both which are deadly in combat.
Then again, the G15 wasn't designed for FPS's specificaly. So who am I to complain. With a bit of creativity, the keyboard can be a gift that helps you improve all the aspects of gaming. If you can program the macro buttons right, those can be a help too. But you have to do your research into it before you can do so. Which is a big down side, but not one I'm not willing to overlook.
So far I'm glad with it. And I hope I will still be happy with it in a year or two.
