The speed of door transition- obviously they cut that bit there. Who's gonna wait around Odd knows how long for him to transverse Odd knows how far to the other side. Nothing of importance happens in those corridors, and when they do, we play them. Who's to say which of the paths we play are just connecting tunnels that happen to have sligs or mudokons in them?

Probably right, but there are sections where something is happening while you traverse the door eg last secret in Feeco

Right
In the secret I mentioned you have to time the door transition with a moving Slig, but I'd forgotten about the one you said.

That made great sense, Bullet Magnet.

i think wells are powered by some unseen force on oddworld, i mean, if oddworld is so big, than wouldn't the gravity crush everything? and what makes those security orbs float? last time i checked, they were sealed tight (except maybe the lens).

First, Earth is quite dense. Oddworld could be much less dense and who's to say Muds aren't 1 mm high anyway? Second, security orbs could be floated by having helium inside them, that would make them light enough.

Not really, most inner rocky planets are very dense. And with Oddworld's mass, I would think that it's pretty dense.
:

Because there was a size chart showing the height of numerous Oddworld creatures, including Mudokons. They weren't 1 mm tall.
:

It would have to be some pretty compressed helium then, those orbs are made of heavy metal, plus there's all the machinery inside. It's little technicalities like these that are best left undetermined. As I have stated before, Oddworld is called odd for a reason, one of them (IMO) being that you don't need a scientific explanation for everything that takes place.

Right. They're about six feet tall. And I think that's in human terms.

1. where is this source of mass and size chart
2. It wouldn't be compressed, plus Oddworld tech is more advanced than ours, the computer chip would take up like 1% of the space

And the planet's mass? Doesn't sound like the sort that'd be on the site

We don't know that though. And besides the chip, you would need the shocker which would take up about a third of the space. Then you would need the optical sensers which take up about a fourth of the space. All of this composed of heavy metal, I don't think helium would do the trick.

An antigravity generator or a repulsorlift coil? I heard on theory that there was an anigravity ore used in the orbs, and also reduced the gravitational force of Oddworld at the surface down to Earth-normal. It is a big planet, after all, and gravity should be a problem.

More gravitational force could explain why abe dies in AO and AE from falls that don't look too dangerous to us. Since the gravity would be making abe land with more force than we think. This is not counting MO since they all seem invincable (sp?) to long falls now unless it's a cliff with fog around it.

Those falls don't look too dangerous to us from the angle we look from. We would die as well if we fell from such heights.

Don't look too dangerous to us? Dude, when's the last time you fell off a twenty-foot cliff?

I fell of a fifteen foot cliff once. Luckily the bottom was soft sand and the base sloped away, but it hurt. Then I did it again in Austria, I was on a sledge, and my friend steering at the back lost control. He jumped ship, but I was tangled in the reigns. I went flying off the edge of this 20 foot vertical egde, dropped ten, then got stuck in a tree. Banged my head, too, my mate was crying, he'd thought he'd killed me. As far as I know, that tobogon is still there.

Hmm. 'S a bit off topic. Abe would die from those heights, or at least break his leg, which in the game is as good as dying. Those first couple of games were quite realistic in terms of what would kill you.

MO being in 3D and being a platform game it is easier to fall from too high.
so they made Abe absurdly more bouncy then before, they say it's a side effect of the spooce

And on some cliffs, you can't even see the bottom. That would be dangerous. What if there were, like, sharp rocks there?

You fall down a dark alley cliff on Oddworld, next thing you know you're being chewed on by some creature or another or you end up impaling
yourself on some pikes that are used as hunting traps. Besides that,
might as well jump off any other cliff and smash your body open.

A great word of advice to America's few idiots who are more than
happy to jump off cliffs and high ledges for belief that's their one-way

Shall I back you up, Bullet Magnet?

My legacy to the world. Now all those idiots will survive and breed, spreading their stupidity and turning this " once so beautiful" land into a pit of
hell inhabited by little vultures picking off the remains of a dead past
dimension of smart, independant creatures.

One day a terrible fate if this shall continue forth will meet the deadliest creature on earth, man. But let us pray to enjoy and embrace one
more day of wisdom and power. Amen.

So therefore keep watching the skies.

Thank you,
Bullet magnet,

Don't look at me. Anyhoo...From all this we must conclude that the gravity, for some reason, is the same as earth. However, it is kind of strange to see Abe fall off a 15-foot drop in the Paramonian Temple and get smashed to a pulp, but then in the industrial areas, fall down a 15-foot drop and barely bend his knees (and metal is harder than wood or sandstone, as is common knowledge). Hmmm.

What? In my experience if he falls down two normal sized levels, or one screen, he always dies unless there is a well underneath. One of only a few exceptions is that place in paramonia where you have to deal with those trap doors and the well to get a password tune from a rock. And there was a mine.

One level is about twenty feet. If Abe is about six feet and four of him goes into the length of the screen (not counting the space under the walkway), then it's about 23 feet. And remember that time in Zulag 3 in the leftmost door where he fell across a whole screen and lived?

Also about the wells: I agreed with the suction theory at first, but I see a flaw. What about 2-way wells? If Abe comes out of a well with suction, well, that's all right, but if he wants to go back in, the air has to blow in a different direction all of a sudden.
