Mosh Pits

I went to a concert last friday at my school, nothing special just a group of kids in 6th fourm, there was a good mosh pit almost every song and my friend got me to join, have you ever been in a mosh pit and had fun or got hurt? Or hate them?
For anyone who dosnt know what a mosh pit is:
Moshing basically is an expression of music by the crowd at a concert. . Members of the crowd will gather at the front and will furiously and passionately shove/ push/ body slam each other in time to the music. But the idea is not to cause any harm to each other (even though that's usually the case ) but just to enjoy the music in a less passive way, like you would if you were to dance to any type of music.

Good ol' punk rock shows... Can't go to one without seeing some crazy moshing. But of course, I, like most girls, don't participate because I'd get seriously injured. It looks like so much fun though... I just stand on the sides and shove any body back in that comes in my direction. Hah, or sometimes, I'll hop on someone's shoulders and we'll charge in. It's fun to push people's heads from a safe height.

Maybe I haven't been to the right concert but I've never seen the point of hard-core moshing.

I agree with Used. Mosh pits and most other things that deal with teen angstiness are Liberaci-level gay.

I like 'em. Always have. I've gotten hurt before, but it's so easy to shrug off with the old adrenaline pumping. Besides, if your at the right shows, people won't let you get seriously hurt. If somebody falls down, you pick them back up. It's camaraderie, albeit expressed in a bizarre way.

It's just a reaffirmation of primitive human instincts, like most other forms of "dancing."

I just don't see the appeal in things like that. Perhaps I am a hermit of sorts, which could explain my lack of desire to participate in dances at school, which I also think are gay.

I dislike mosh pits, as if its music you can mosh to, I probably won't like it.

I like them when it in little metal clubs with some unknown bands that do some great music...
Go there with a couple of friends and blast those little wanabee teens. (like: hi I'm 15 and I'm a bad bad goth, I hate society and I'll kill my parents)

The worst one I've been into is one at the Hatebreed/Slipknot/Slayer Concert, I couldn't breath anymore and a friend had to help me out. (PS: I hate Slipknot's music, but Slayer's nice)

but most of the time I'm on the front line of the shows and trying to enjoy it rather than jump into other guys.

I have so much pent-up anger and aggression, this Mosh pit keeps sounding better and better. A bunch of skinny emo-kids against a bruiser like me? NO CONTEST!

I don't give two and a half shits what they're purpose is, and I don't think anyone else does either. I'm telling what happens in a mosh pit, whether it's meant to or not.

As I said before, I just hate teen angst, and pretty much all the music teenagers listen to. Yeah, I have the taste of a crotchety old man, and I can live with that.

Mosh pits are kind of fun, unless they are crushing. I was in one a few years back and was getting majorly crushed and I could barely breathe. Luckily the guys next to me were kind enough to lift me out when I asked them.
Stupid people and their 'surging'. I don't see the point of that at all.

I used to like to go into a mosh pit when I was into heavy metal a lot more than I am now. But I have avoided them since about 7 years ago. I was at a festival and the mosh pit was a little too hectic than I was used to. I think it was only into the first song of the band playing [it was Hole I think] and I found myself on the ground. Quite a scary experience, probably the scariest of my life. I was stuck on the ground for about 20 seconds with people moving frantically above me. It was hard to breathe and I didn't know what was going to happen. Thankfully a group of guys helped me and pulled me back up.

So since then, I never go near a mosh pit. I don't go to concerts much anymore, but if I do, I either stand at a safe distance, or get reserved seating if it's available.

Same reason I avoid wave pools.
If it's any consolation, I enjoy real ocean waves that are about 4 times as dangerous.

mosh pits suck as do metal/emo/grunge concerts, with girls with more piercings than all the chickens in metros sig. Better to go to an aussie retro club where you have good music, and get yourself some slapper if its dirty sweat u want. mosh pits. u wanna bash those ppl just by lookin at them
