There are a few theories... Another one is when people were put in the stocks for petty sins, they would carve the words, 'For Unlawfull Carnal Knoledge,' onto to stocks. After a while, that was shotened to 'f uck'. If that's the case, I'm not sure how that turned into a 'bad word'. Maybe it was a term ONLY used for people in the stocks, and was not appropriate to use it any other time. Just my thoughts.
