GIF, JPG, or PNG oh my!

The uploaded file is not a valid GIF, JPG, or PNG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

^^ What does that mean? It came up when I was trying to put in my new avatar.

For future reference it's cause it's the wrong file type. When you save it on your computer, select "Save as". Below the File name box there should be a box saying somehing like "Save as type:" with a dropdown list. Open this and select the type you want, eg. GIF, JPG, or PNG.
GIF is usually largest but best for working with. I recommend converting to PNG when you've finished cause it has a small file size and good quality.

Thanks a lot you guys. You have been a real help.

Except one thing. Splat, when I did te drop down menu, it didn't bring up any of GIF and such. Just Bitmap and Art.

And MojoMan, the link you gave me works fine for me, but it won't work when I enter it.

Probably the program you're using doesn't work them. Different programs will let you save in different ways. HAve a look around, "Paint" will save all of them.

Pheew! I finally figured it out. I think this one is a little less...freaky.

I would not recommend using MS Paint to save in any format other than BMP. It has a nasty habit of screwing up quality. A better programme to save in any format is "Irfan view".
