In Love or Be Loved?

Now I can't think of what would be better. To be in Love with someone or to have someone be in love with you? And yes I know both are what we all desire but this is either or nothing.

In Love: They say that it is better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all. But if you meet someone that you fall in love with that doesn't love you back that could almost be one of the worst pains in the world. I know stalking equals fun but is quite wrong and sad. But at least you know what Love is.

Be Loved: While you don't have the feeling for the person that loves you, there would be a certain feeling inside you that you are special in someone's life. You of course would be flattered, but then you would have to be in that awkward position of letting someone who loves you down. And that could be very hard to do.

Unrequited love would suck on both accounts... I can't really choose between the two.

But, if it came down to it, I would rather not know love at all than have the person I'm in love with be incapable of returning my affection.

I would much rather be loved. I have had plenty of crushes where the other had no feelings for me, which is very painful.

If you are loved, though, you know someone likes you just the way you are, which feels great.

Being able to feel love is a reward in itself despite how much it would hurt to love someone and it not to be returned. I think feeling love of any kind is good and healthy and can make one a better person.

So yeah, I choose to love.

Well said. But I'd rather love someone, as I often do, without the same feelings being felt by said persons.

I've been in love three times, it's an awful experience and one that i'd urge people to avoid. It's quite bizarre, 'cos it's merely chemicals in your brain that make you fall in love, but by doing so you're subject to feelings of a suicidal nature or a homicidal nature.

I know of one case where my Media tutor held somebody who married his (current) girlfriend out in front of a Train.

I'd much rather be loved though. Such a warm feeling.

I would rather love because it's worth it to ask because you might never get to ask again and to be loved but not love back hurts even more than being rejected because if you accept you'd just be living a lie, where nobody wins.

It would depend... On one hand it's nice to know someone likes you for you. But if the person became almost stalkerish and was awful then...

To love... It's great to love someone, but not if they don't feel the same.

I would choose to love because, quite simply, it's loving someone and that's the best thing you can ever do. *naïve*

Also for a safety aspect, you have some control [if not all control, but I know as well as you do that somepeople become bumbling idiots so ] of what you do and you will get over him/her/it. If someone loved you, you would have no idea what they would do, they may be harmless. But they could turn all stalkerish! Scary!

So. Yeah.

Love is wonderful when its mutual....however I've experienced what I thought was love and it was only onesided. It's truly as horrible as people say.

So until I find enough courage to love without even knowing if its mutual or not I'd choose to be loved.

I choose 'Be loved', because going through the first one and approaching three years with it leaves me curious to what the other side is like.
