Happy ***Gargoyles DVD out in December***

At this years Annual Gathering, Greg Weisman, the series creator, announced that the entire first season of gargoyles will be released, unedited. The DVD will be a two-disc set released on December 7th for the retail price of $29.99. The audio commentary is for the Awakening multi-parter only, and includes comments by Greg Weisman, Frank Paur and Keith David. The DVD will also include the original show pitch by Greg Weisman and a documentary of the Gathering convention.

This is a must buy for anyone who watched the show; if it is released here in England (I'm not yet sure whether they will, but they should do) I will definately be snatching up this little gem.

Pre-order now from Amazon

Hmmm, definitely looks interesting. I've never seen the programme, but I see plenty of praise for it. The setup seems suitably early-90s, though that's clearly appropriate. Thanks for bringing this intriguing animation to my awareness, Incognito. I'll keep an eye out fo rit, at least.

Only slightly on-topic, is Jonathan Frakes really considered a 'veteran' actor? I've only seen him in ST:TNG, but he manages to be terrible enough in that. Oh, and he directed Thunderbirds. I will never forgive him for that.

For those of you who are new to Gargoyles or have never seen an episode before here is a link to watch one episode; "Deadly Force".

Gargoyles: Deadly Force

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you should be able to see the episode.

Although on that site it says Toon Disney no longer shows the episode, they have since started to air an edited version (there isn't as much blood shown).

As for Jonathan Frakes, I don't know much about him except he voiced David Xanatos in gargoyles. Here's his profile at imdb:

Jonathan Frakes

EDIT: Made a slight mistake before, this is taken from http://www.tvtome.com/Gargoyles/:

:
This episode [Deadly Force] only aired on Toon Disney, only once as part of a Gargoyles Halloween marathon, airing all 78 episodes in a span of 4 nights, starting October 28, 2002. It aired out of original airing order, however, airing the last hour of the night along with the following episode "Enter MacBeth." Various blood shots were removed and Elisa's face was zoomed in instead of view her body with the puddle of blood next to her. The Fox Family version uses the same cut to avoid Elisa's blood as Toon Disney's.
Toon Disney only aired it the once. My bad.

I didn't hate it I just didn't like it that much like Cyberslig. But I remember that McBeth guy, he sounded sort of like Sean Connery.

Unfortunately the DVD (which will be released next week ) Is only going to be released in region 1 format which means there are no plans to sell it outside of this region (USA, Canada and US territories etc.) at this time.

paramite5 and anyone else outside of Northern America you're best bet of purchasing the DVD is getting it online from somewhere like Amazon.com.

There is a very good review of the DVD over at ultimatedisney.com.

And Siren from sirens-grotto has made a brilliant video advertising the DVD. Check it out here
