The Prodduct of Teamwork

Part 1

Abe was looking for anything useful in the wreckage of the Soulstorm Brewery. He had agreed to help the Mudokons reach their goal, which was artificial meat. For that, they would need minerals and equipment. Abe was walking past a pile of various objects, when he heard a voice. "Help me! I'm stuck and my arm's broken. Can anyone hear me?" The voice sounded a lot like a Slig's, but it was a bit lighter. Abe ran over to the pile and started flinging stuff off of it. Eventually, he had uncovered a female Slig, which was even more odd than the entire surface of Oddworld. The reason this was so odd, even for Oddworld, was that usually, the only female was the Queen. "Thank you." the Slig said, "I've been stuck under here for hours." "My name is Malaya, what's yours?" The Slig said. "My name is Abe." Abe replied. "Abe?" Malaya asked. "I've heard of you. Aren't you the one that shut down both Rupture Farms and Soulstorm Brewery?" "Yes, I am." Abe said. "So, why are you here?" "I refused to beat a Mudokon, so my Glukkon boss fired me and broke my arm, so I can't move unless I get some pants. I can't go back to the Glukkons, so can I come live with the Mudokons?" Malaya responded. Abe thought about it for a while, then said, "Of course. I'm sure that Big Face will approve of your story. Well, at least the part about not beating the Mudokon." Before they left, Abe got some pants for Malaya, so she could move. But, as they reached the Mudokon village, which was just east of Paramonia, they didn't notice a presence lurking in the trees, watching them. In the tribal council room, Abe introduced Malaya, and she was not only the first common female Slig, but the first Slig ever to live in a Mudokon tribe.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I forgot all about this one. Here's the second chapter. (Finally) Sorry again!

Two months later, Malaya's arm had long since healed. She agreed to go with Abe to help him free the Mudokons from the secret company that she had worked in. She led him to a hidden cave entrance. Inside, there were several machines inside a large room, but the room was empty. "Come with me, Abe," Malaya said. "I know a shortcut." The "shortcut" was surprisingly long. "Malaya," Abe said impatiently, "are you sure that this is a shortcut?" "Sure, I'm sure," Malaya replied. They had been walking for an hour, still n enemies in sight. "All the other paths take three hours." "This isn't right." Abe thought, "It's too easy." Soon they came to a big, metal door. Malaya pushed a series of buttons on a number pad, and the door opened. Inside, there were no Mudokons, but three Glukkons wearing ornate suits, which meant they were important. As they stepped in, the door slammed shut behind them, and locked. "What!?" Abe yelled, not knowing what was going on. "Malaya, you're finally back," said one of the Glukkons. "We're sorry we had to break your arm, but it will all be worth it after we're through with Abe." All three Glukkons laughed evilly, each visualizing what they would do to him. Abe just stood there, stunned. "Now," one of the Glukkons said, "kill him!" Malaya stood there, holding her gun, uncertain of what she should do. "Do it!" the Glukkon yelled impatiently. "The Mudokons aren't like the Glukkons think." Malaya thought. What had started as a decoy mission wasn't a decoy mission anymore. "Wait!" another Glukkon yelled, "Where is the Mudokon tribe located?" "It's located west of Paramonia," Malaya lied, knowing that geography wasn't a Glukkon strong point. "All right," the Glukkon said, "now kill him." Malaya acted as if she was about to shoot Abe, but she shot the number pad instead, opening the door. "Run for it, Abe!" Malaya yelled, just as all three Glukkons yelled, "Help!" Three Sligs dropped out of tubes in the ceiling, and all three Glukkons commanded them to shoot Malaya. She fired before they could. Even though all Sligs died, three more dropped down. Malaya turned to run, but she was shot in the arm, making her drop her gun. She started to run, but a hand shot out of the shadows and grabbed her. There was a Glukkon without any kind of clothing at all, which was good, because a standard Glukkon suit hampers movement, anyway. He bounded toward the three Glukkons, threw one of the Sligs against the wall, and both Sligs and Glukkons stared. Finally, one of the Glukkons spoke. "I know I've seen that face somwhere..." he trailed off. Suddenly, he remembered. "Molluck?" he asked in disbelief. "You survived? We have several Scrab Cakes and Paramite Pies here, if you'd like to have some." he said, gesturing with his head to a table behind them. "Never," Molluck said. "First of all, it was a Scrab that taught me how to survive in the wild. Second, it was a Paramite that taught me to give back to nature what I take." With that, Molluck turned around and hurried to catch up with Abe and Malaya.

I'm so, so sorry for forgetting. Tell me what you think.

No replies yet!? Come on, I want some input. Oh, well. This is a long story, anyway. Here's Chapter Three.

In the forest, the three were walking. Abe was a little uncertain about Molluck, though. Molluck said, "I found a secret cave that leads to a hidden area, somewhere in between Scrabania and Paramonia." With that, he pulled a curtain of vines aside to reveal a cave entrance. The three stepped inside and followed the winding cave path. When they finally reached the other end, they were in a bright, sunlit area, with several species in one group. "This is the Paradise Plain," Molluck said, "so called for the many species living in harmony. This is a Scrab pack." Neither Abe or Malaya could believe their eyes. A social group of Scrabs! "This," Molluck continued, "is the only Shrykull pack." Once again, Abe was surprised. To think of Shrykulls as real animals wasn't common, but this disproved all the "god" legends. A loud moan came from the trees, just as Malaya said, "What smells?" An Elum herd walked out of the forest. The leader saw Abe and howled. "Elum? Is that you?" Abe asked in surprise. This was the very same Elum that had helped him. Elum grunted in response. Then, two tribes walked into the clearing. But, these weren't Mudokon tribes. One tribe was comprised of native Glukkons, once thought to have vanished. The other, a native Slig tribe, was just as unbelieveable. Molluck said, "We are gathering here to create an army to oppose the 'civilized' Glukkons and Sligs. We were going to ask the Mudokons for help. Can you get the rest of your tribe to help us?" "Yes, I can," Abe replied.

That's the third chapter. Please tell me what you think. I want some input, here.

Finally. Okay, here's the fourth chapter.

Abe was sitting in the council room with Malaya, Molluck, Big Face (What would a meeting be without him?), and all other Mudokons in the tribe. Abe said, "I think that Molluck has changed. You should at least give him a chance." At thos words, there were ninety-nine negative responses. "No way! He almost killed you, Abe! Are you going to let him get away with that?!" "Calm down, everyone!" Big Face interrupted their protests. "I think Abe is right. We should join this army, if it will help us defeat the industrial Glukkons." After a minute of grumbling, the ninety-nine Mudokons said, "Oh, all right." It was then that the tribe joined the multi-species army.

They trained for three months. During that time, the original ninety-nine Mudokons forgot (well, almost forgot) that Molluck was their leader. They trained alongside Sligs, Glukkons, Slogs, Fleeches, Shrykulls, Scrabs, and many other species. The Gabbits joined after the first week of training. When they were all trained, they had one final test. They were now ready to attack and destroy the Glukkon facilities.

I'm sorry this one is so short. Please tell me what you think.

All right! Here goes.

After about three days, they had reached one factory that produced other beverages. (In case anyone was allergic to Soulstorm Brew.) Not surprisingly, the boss, Helderik, had already heard about them and was waiting. "You realize that," he said, "you broke a main rule, Molluck. You are now considered a traitor amongst Glukkons here." "So, what?" Molluck said. "Well, then," Helderik said evilly, "I suppose that includes your childhood friends, too. Have you forgotten them already?" He stepped aside to reveal two Glukkons. Molluck was immediately transfixed, staring at their faces. They showed nothing but disgust. Disgust for him living with and befriending the native Mudokons. Their eyes showed nothing but hatred for this sudden transformation from the ideal Glukkon to, in their terms, a monster. Molluck couldn't fight back the tears any longer. All right, so he was a traitor. But a traitor to his friends...

Abe turned to Helderik and said, "Stop this now. You are too power-hungry and money-crazy to even think about what you are doing to the Mudokons. Molluck, hearing this, said, "Yeah. What are you doing to the Mudokons?" Helderik just commanded a Slig to open a door. There were two groups of Mudokons, a group of blind ones, and a group of tortured ones. Molluck, looking at the blind Mudokons, asked angrily, "What did you do to them!?" Before Helderik could answer, Molluck grabbed a knife, and, holding it in one hand while using the other to hop, rushed toward the blind Mudokons. Before any former slaves could say, "I knew we couldn't trust him." Molluck had not killed them, but cut the stiches in half with amazing precision, allowing them to open their eyes for the first time in years. Then, he turned his attention to the tortured Mudokons. "You-" he, for some reason, couldn't think of a word, and a sound that sounded like a mix of a growl, scream, and howl came out. He rushed toward Helderik. He hadn't even been this angry when Abe had escaped. If Helderik hadn't tripped over his own hands, he would have been dead. He got up, called in several Sligs and Slogs, and said, "This means war."

What do you think? Forewarning: The war chapter isn't that good. Just thought you might want to know.

All right. Might as well post before this thing leaves the page.

It had been three months since the war had started. No one had known it would be this hard. Several were injured. None had died, though. Big Face was making sure of that. Abe, riding on Elum, was holding a grenade in his hand, waiting for the exact moment to throw it. A shaman started to chant. Flames appeared around him, and burned ten Sligs. Ten native Sligs grabbes the pants and masks and used them. The enemies really defeated themselves. The Slogs thought that the Flying Sligs were Frisbees, so they started attacking them instead of the multi-species army. Also, the Sligs were never really trained in the use of their weapons, so they commonly missed. Soon, the industrial army was defeated. Helderik called in several Big-Bro. Sligs, hoping to win. But, they weren't expecting to face a whole pack of Shrykulls. The entire pack sent an electric blast at the Sligs. They were all dead in minutes. Helderik started to step back a little, when he was attacked from behind, ironically, by the very same fleech he had owned as a child. The war was over! They had finally won!

Just so you know, there is a: a BIG plot twist, and b: a one-month time difference between the last chapter and this one. Here it is.

Abe had never been more miserable. Neither had the others. They all were huddled in a close group, shivering from the cold wind and rain. It had been at least six hours since they had left the Mudokon village. It had been completely destroyed by a tropical storm, and only a few items could be salvaged. The rain was falling in sheets, making it hard to see. Several main paths were flooded, so they couldn't follow a direct route. They seemed to be hopelessly lost. It was so dark; no one could see landmarks. After a few hours, they came to a flooded ditch. "Well," Abe said with a sigh, "I guess we have to swim across." Malaya groaned, wishing she still had her pants. They had been washed away before she could reach them. They all waded in until they couldn't touch the bottom, then started swimming. The water was ice cold, but the Gabbits didn't seem to mind. The Mudokons and the Sligs made it over okay, and the Fleeches and Paramites got across using their tongues and webs, never even toughing the water. The Glukkons had the most difficulty crossing, though. When they all had made it to the other side, they quickly realized that Molluck was missing. They all panicked, until he finally pulled himself onto the shore. Coughing and gasping for air, and after spitting out what, to him, must have been a liter of water, (even though it was only about a tablespoon) he finally managed to say, "Glukkons definitely were not made for swimming." "Yeah, that's obvious," said one of the native Glukkons. Then, Big Face said, "Maybe we should continue looking for a shelter, so we can wait this storm out. Or are we going to just stand here until we freeze?" The group forced a chuckle, but, even though it was forced, the joke lightened the mood. "Hey!" Alf yelled suddenly, "Look over there!" The group followed the direction that Alf was pointing. In the distance, they saw an old, run-down building. Munch said, "Yeah! We can wait the storm out there! It looks stable." Overjoyed, the group ran towards the building. But, Abe couldn't get rid of the feeling that something was wrong.

Well, that's it for this chapter. Please tell me what you think.
