Is there a logical explanation to the supernatural creature's existance?

We've all heard tales about supernatural creatures, but are they just some creation of some bored author? Or have they exsisted? the question remains...

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God.
You see things, and you say 'why'. But i dream things that never were and i say 'why not'.

Unicorns were first described as creatures with a horselike appearance, elephants feet and a horn... or basically a rhinocerous. Later Norse people brought narwhale horns to Europe and said they came from "unicorns". So that is where those prancing white ponies with long slender spikes on their heads came from.

My friends is going to try to find big foot this summer for his senior school project. Seriously.

I'm really into cryptozoology, so I'll be back.

There is so much supernatural shit nowadays that I can't even keep track anymore, nor do I try. Whatever happened to ghosts? Now they're all complicated like "specteral wraiths" or "ectoplasmic free floating spirits". Christ! Why complicate such a simple thing? They're ghosts! They go boo! PERIOD!

Ghosts, arnt they just something of our imagination. How do you know you've really seen one? What if ghosts are "memories" of the dead that are projected from our minds so that we never forget them?

i think this thread should be merged with my loch ness thread, and then have the title changed to cryptozoology.

They're not supernatural if they exist.

Ah, cryptozoology, my old flame. Or something. You guys should check out forteantimes.com, it contains a whole host of bizarre news articles, and occasionally you'll get one about beasts in the desert, etc. It's a great place to keep up to date with all this stuff.

More importantly, I'm glad to see we still have people here interested in the paranormal and supernatural. It's uncanny how many Oddworld fans are fascinated by this stuff. It's also fascinating how many Lefties and OTPOTSS Oddworld attracts.

Huzzah, Khanz returns from the crypt!

And explanations... Explanations... People make things up for attention. People who believe in things warp an expirience in their mind. People who are sane encounter something they can't explain, and consider a supernatural thing a potential explanation. All sorts of things.

Oh yes, and of course, media hype.

Yeah I'm returned Majic... I never really left, I've just been pretty busy. All this stuff about Stranger is so speculative I am just waiting it out until we get some real info.

Personally I think that most things are made up by overactive imaginations. Here are my takes on some of the most famous supernatural or cryptozoological creatures.

Loch Ness Monsters (and all the other sea/lake monsters)-Sturgeons, seals, sharks, giant squid and logs... not prehistoric creatures. The best evidence was the carcass caught of the coast of Japan and a DNA test showed it was a decayed shark. Sorry.

Aliens-I have a really hard time believing that a super intelligent race from far away would spend the time and resources to screw ugly hicks and mow the lawns of farmers.

Bigfoot, Yeti, Skunkape, etc...-Most likely just a dude in a monkey suit, but juries still out on this one. Could be the last remnant of a believed to be extint primate species.

Ghosts-I definitely believe in spirits that play an active role in day to day life, but I don't believe many ghost stories. Some, but only the rare ones where I actually know and trust the person telling them. My theory is that ghosts are created when a person's body dies, but their soul does not. The spirit is still tied to the earth, not in the spiritual realms of heaven or hell, but not in physical form. There is a lot we don't know about the human mind.

Seems sort of weird I believe that ghosts are more likely than the loch ness monster, but I got to go with the real evidence I have. And lack of evidence is better than negative evidence.

Damn straight (pun intended). That's why I thought it'd be more fun to use.

Re: ghosts
I don't really have any opinion on traditional ghost stories. They've probably developed the same way as fishmen's tales. The trend nowadays seems to be in orbs (or 'moths') and 'presences', which admittedly is more believable. It also happens to be much more spiritual, and it's not until we get larger proportions of the population buzzing around the country investigating these places properly we're going to get anything concrete.

I have to admit to watching Most Haunted whenever it's on, though. Derek Acorah is a great actor. He also deserves to star in the next Persil ad.

I think that we're on a border line with ghosts. What i'm saying is that we've seen enough pictures/video to believe in ghosts, but we've also seen enough information to disbelieve in ghosts and were carefully balanced on that line between believing and not believing and the slightest amount of crucial evidence could topple us in one of the directions, metaphorically speaking that is Do you get what I'm saying?
