"I'm leaving" threads

I'm not leaving, before you start pointing fingers, but I think that, to stop "I'm leaving" threads, which are, as far as i can tell, used to boost post counts, you should put in a rule that if you do say "I'm leaving", then the persons account should be closed even if they come back. That way you can't boost post counts by saying your leaving, instead, you dramatically lower it.
If you already are doing this and I just don't know, or if this thread has already been done, sorry

I'm leaving threads are usually either used for sympathy, or something, meaning they would more or less come back. Sometimes, though, people really do leave, and then come back, for legit reasons. Its not that much of a problem really, and its only maybe 1 or 2 posts extra.

Besides, who even bases opinions on post counts

If they are in the Welcomes and Birthday's forum, they don't give post counts anyway ... that's one of the reasons we made that sub-forum. And if any turn up in Off-topic, the mods should be moving them to the appropriate place also.

So people can't get post counts for goodbye (or welcome, or birthday) threads ... so if someone wants to be an idiot and post one ... then it doesn't really bother me now days.

Alright, it was just a suggestion to stop em turning in to a larger problem. I didn't realise the post count thing in the welcomes/birthdays. I've only been there once.
Oh well.

I post an "im leaving" thread a while back, but that was only for a couple of days so that I could focus on making the Oddlympics website.

The fact is that people piss other people off in here, and sometimes they just need to leave for a bit so they can concentrate on stuff.

So I say no, just leave it as it is.
