Well maybe if I have enough time. Ill put a little thing together, since Ive given myself the title of history record. Ill try and gather up as much of what I remember and know since I joined last year, and put it either in this topic or in a new one.

The Unofficial (probably wrong) OWF History


Welcome to the unofficial (probably wrong) Oddworld forums history. After the forumers moved from the ezboard forum, they came to the UBB forum. This is the ezboard forums.
(Although the layout has changed and the forums have been deleted.) Many of these members include: Pinkie, dark hood, drag (sl’askia), Syd and Xiou. I’m not quite sure who the moderators were then but I know that elum was the fan corner mod sometime around then. And Danny and Sl’askia were RPG mods in the UBB forum. But for certain the only admins were Syd and Abe babe. Although many people made many topic about wanting to be admins/mods the staffers were kool about it. So it begins the story of OWF….

I haven't really been a member that long but this is Oddworld Forums History as I know it. I was a not so nuetral participant but got played like a pawn by both sides. I think I did some things I shouldn't have but oh well, we've moved on.

Some people started a Forum. Sydney was the creator. It was a normal forum, nothing out of the ordinary. People were all anxiously awaiting MO and talking about all the rumors they had heard. Occasionally problems rose up (hackers, spammers, people pretending to commit suicide and starting hundreds of apology threads...) but all the problems were dealt with. It was a happy community. And then just this summer BAM! AbeBabe and Pilot demoted Sydney from his role as mod. I'm not sure why, although supposedly he was a harsh mod. He also was friends with a group of members who lived off of "heated debates" which would be okay except for the fact that none of them were oddworld related and kids always got their feelings hurt. During the OddTour they had tried to meet him and although he told them he could not for personal reasons they tried anyways. He got mad. The forum plunged into chaos and finally Sydney and most of the "heated debaters" left to the Glass Asylum.

Now the forum is at its best (in my opinion). It might not be what it was before, but the focus has been put back on oddworld which it should be. It's up to you to decide whether or not the ends justify the means.




Some of the members who have been here longer might want to fill in the early stuff and also correct some of the later stuff.

Introduction

As most things end most have a beginning that not always is known, by everyone. Thus begins speculation, myths, and different thoughts on what is right and what is wrong. For this is the reason a record must be kept. This is a way to reflect and look back upon what has happened, and to remember, and never forget all that has transpired and come before. This is equally important to look at what can be further improved, and what should never have to take place again. Thus begins the history of Oddworld Forums a place that has changed so much within almost two years of its creation. In which many peoples interested in Oddworld, and those who were not, gathered in one large Community, and later became separated, within the community, and eventually split into two separate Forums.

Documented will be links to various threads created that backup certain statements. This will be interactive. What I mean by this is I want to know certain things that may need clarification, and or things I may have forgotten to add. This is not an overnight project for me, it’s going to take a bit of time and I will update as often as I can, and rewritten if needed. But I want everyone to be able to see how much this place has changed, and what lead to certain events. Within the history will be shown many peoples’ points of view besides my own, which I will take time to gather from others if needed. Also documented will be peoples’ stories that may have been misinterpreted, or never been heard. As stated it may need changing at times, or updates. I want people to be able to understand certain things that now are in place on the forums, and what lead to them. I want people to never forget the history here, and also learn from it. I’m not trying to be melodramatic, or even obsessed, or weird as people may later believe from this. Its something I feel is needed for the people of. And will be added to when important things may happen again. I hope you agree on this, that the facts needed to be sorted from what is not true, and if not respect my opinion at least of doing this for everyone on both OWF and those who have parted from us. Be looking soon again for updates, and revisions.

No problem Syd. You were the first member so its not an issue here, plus its good to hear your side of the story also. I never really got the chance to. Though for my version that Im working on, could I possibly talk to you about it with you over on TGA. I'm trying to put this together with as many sides as possible. So I dont get anyone upset for leaving something out or getting the facts wrong and such. Or if I cant get a hold of you there could I send you a PM or email? I'm not saying that anyone is 100% right but I would like to compile different peoples views of the events, and I think that would really help to piece together a lot of unanswered questions. Like I said I would like to do this as a reflective thing for both sites OWF and TGA, not to make anyone feel bad, or want to hate one side or the other. I want it to merely reflect what happened to the events from different peoples, multiples peoples view points.

You may not like what someone has to say or what is said all the time, you have to respect it, and be mature about it.
