Yea I saw that thats actually kind of cool. I like that Steef is the name of the species. Its like simple no need to have a name the name of your race is the name of you. Heh how odd!

I also read in the inhabitants interviews how in the next game you will be useing the natural envirorment to your advantage in hunting your enamys. Hmm thats very different from the previous games. Mann I can't wait till this comes out. As I drool thinking about it! This is what was said about Steef in the Inhabitants interviews

SD: I could. But I'd have to kill me.
Just kidding. Actually this game is far different from any other Oddworld game, and far different than anything out there. We have retained the core elements of story telling and strong character development through play that Oddworld cherishes, and is known for. The focus in our design is all about using the natural world to your advantage as you hunt down and outsmart your enemies. Since this new character is more aggressive than Abe or Munch, the spaces tend to play to that more. - The End

Since Steef is the name of the species, does that mean we do not know the leading characters' name for OW4?

Did you guys see who asked the Q that obtained this lovely info?

EDIT:
Q: Hey Alf! Oddguy from OWF here with a question *drumroll* Can you give out a name for at least one of the new species appearing in Steef? I'm just so curious! Thank you kind sir! -Oddguy

Alf: Such a polite chap, that Oddguy is. Well, I suppose I could clear up a small bit of confusion, how would that be? One of the species is in fact STEEF! Yes, it is true. Steef is not a character name but the name of a species; similar to how Mudokon and Gabbit are also species. Isn't it amazing! ! ! !

Hmmmm, turns out we don't know the characters' name for OW4. OWI is very crafty indeed.

Indeed, Alf confirms what we've been saying, and the final paragraph in the inhabitants interview was very interesting, but otherwise I see no reason to have actually read this month's updates. Sad, but true.

MO on GBA does intrigue me. I'm almost definitely going to seriously investigate it, now.

You know, I did notice that. You have been around for awhile to know when OWI might be leading us in another direction. The X-Factor special made it sound like Steef was the main characters' name. I think they did it on purpose to fool us, but you and Max knew better!

Im actually glad that OWI is finally telling us something on the game. Not much however (the Steef as a speices didn't surprise me *cough, cough*) but I think it will lead the way to a, hopefully, steady flow of new info.

Edit- Thankfully I just got the oppertunity to talk to ol Alfie on Oddchat and with what he's told me you guys are REALLY going to like this game. He's also go some cool stuff comming for us such as the Daily Deception comming back (and it'll have hints of the new game!). Let us all just be paitent, we've gotta realize that Alf can not say anything untill the Big Man gives the word!

That is true and its a great sign that Alf is telling you this because some of us on here have doubts not me of course but some of us do. Hereing that Oddsville really is exciting and I bet within the next oh say 6 months Ill give it, its going to start getting really intresting as we get closer to the release date of Steef when ever that is. We are getting closer now as we speak because look what we know now from two years ago today.

Here is the timeline of events from the time of Munch up until now. Now this how I looked at so I might be off a little.

It started off with promises that the next game will be so much different and better than MO. We thought at the time it was going to be ME. But then we found out its not even apart of the quintology but a side game of such and its not ME. Still we thought Abe and Munch were going to be in it. Then it was quite for the longest time about a year and a half or at least a year or so. Then we get this teaser on a Horse/ Gorrilla with a talking boat being the character. We all thought it was a stupid april fools joke last year when lone and behold this year we start getting hints through the christmas cards and the Raison Rants that lasted for a few months. Then came the X-Facter and the name of the so called main character of OW4 which we thought was Steef and on the same platter we get screen shots of early designs of the game.

its getting rather intresting at that point that comes up to now where we find out that Steef is the name of the race not the character from Alf. And then he is telling us the Daly Deception is going to start up again with clues of the next game. Whats next?

You see the time line between Munch and Steef is going to be most likely two years and a half. Its been two years up to now since we got Munch. Steef will daliver that Oddworld we love I have no doubt in my mind.

Do you realise its been two years since Munch's debut. We went absolutly from nothing to something that is prompting us for the next game. Its not much info but its enough to get us ready. Plus there was no switch of consols the design and story line probabally kept its original elements from the beginning maybe now tweaked up and being polished a bit. But I don't think it will be a drastic change in the styal of game like what Munch was if there is any changes to the game up to this point. Besides we know that Lanning is a mad man behind the wheel from the X-Factor so I think he defenitly has a far more intresting game than Munch.

I feel goose bumps when I think about it. Just think two and a half years to make this game. No switching consols just an ever presant aknowledgement reassurment from OWI that this game will daliver unlike anything we seen before. If anything thats been constant in this its that.

I don't know why or how, but those answers in the quotes above somehow gave me a renewed confidence in OWI's decisions converning the direction they've decided to lead Oddworld in. Great to see that some new information is about.

Okay, since we now know that Steef is in fact a species name and not the name of our OW4 main character, would it be impossible to say that it could be Sqeek?

Well yeah but there is one problem Squeek is part of the quintology and this one is takeing place at the same time but not as the quintology. But you never know. Maybe since Squeek is Lornes first creation that it will take time for him to actually get to his actual destany joining Abe and Munch which would be his game in the quintology. But in the mean time we see these side adventures where he is by himself that will lead up to the quintology where he meets Abe and Munch. I think the quintology is the gathering of unlikely heroes with different stories surrounding them. And Abe started it and so Munch joined him. But do you remember how Munch joined with Abe? Before that you had to take Munch through a mini adventure through Vykkers Labs. Then he met Abe thus makeing Munch the second character of the quintology but before it was Munch alone for just a little bit.

Now we find this guy that could be Squeek. And that like Munch he has his own mini adventure but this is a little bit bigger that expands into one whole game thats not part of the quintology but leads up to it when he would be the third character. before ending ultimately up with Abe and Munch in another game as the third hero. The quintology is controling of all the heros as we are introduced to them and they join together as a force. But games I think will have only one main character in it will be considered not part of the quintology but ultimately ends up to the group of heros. Sort of like a prequel game before the oddessy and then after the oddessy comes that characters bonus game. That may actually be the case here.

I really, really doubt that the Steef is Squeek. Squeek was Lorne's very first character he made up, and on X-Factor they were talking like they just made the Steef up like...last year for the stronger character scenario they wanted in OW4.

Characters also get refined. Lorne may have had a general idea for Squeek, but only just recently started his heavy design. Since Squeek was Lorne's first character, it may seem he would want special attention for him, like a game outside the Quintology that builds up to it, as PA said. Of course, I'm just speculating for the sake of discussion.
