Oddworld sounds on "The X-Files"

although this is OW related, it is kinda off-topic, so here goes.

I was just watching an old episode of "The X-Files," the one where this guy is inside a computer in his trailer or something and is killing people. Anyway I came arcoss a scene where they played the music you hear when the "Oddworld Inhabitants" logo appears in the beginning of the game.

I couldn't believe it. And this isn't the first time they played a theme from a game on the show. On a way older episode, of "The X-Files," they played music from a level of "Doom." (if you watch "The X-Files" you know they have low-key, mysterious background music, yes?)

What I was wondering is, are not these background themes copyrighted? I mean everything is copyrighted, right? I just thought it was weird.

and even though its copyrighted x-files can ask permission to borrow the sounds

I read somewhere that the cast and crew of the X-files would actually be playing one of the games in between shooting the series. It was apparently quite popular.

It is possible that because they were playing the game so much that it infulenced them to include it in one of their episodes. It sounds like it's supposed to represent that the person on the computer is actually playing Oddworld.

I guess the difference between this and the Car Commercial one mentioned a while back... is it's not advertising. They may have included a mention in the credits of where the music came from.

Anyway, I'll move this over to the Oddworld Discussion forum, as it's an appropriate topic for there.

hey Joe, you know what I'm talking about. during the opening credits, after the GT Interactive logo comes on, there's the Oddworld Inhabitants logo. It's in both games.

Or at the end of Exxodus, when the T.V. anchorman say, "this message is brought to you by..." (cue music and OI logo)

Cool! I´ve watch the x- files ,too but i don´t heard music from oddworld! But i don´t saw all episodes from the X - Files.

hey ODDBODD, i did some research, and the plot to "Kill Switch" sounds like a nice match. It's the eleventh show from season 5. I was a pretty good episode.

Yes, it´s true, I remember when I seen this old episode, I surprised VERY MUCH. The music sound in the episode introduction, before the episode credits. Mulder and Scully appears walk (it´s night)and sounds the music that appears when the "Oddworld Inhabitants" logo appears in the beginning of the game AO.

Well i´ve heard this music some where other, too. ok then It was on the X-files. But I don´t know which ep you mean.
