The Next Oddworld Game Info

Does anyone know or have any more info on the next oddworld game? an you tell me a name really going to be used for it? Get posting! And have fun!

We don't know much at all about the next game. Except for the fact that the next one will revolve around those 150 Gabbiar. OWI dacided that they are keeping everything for the next game in top secret because they don't want to spill out the good stuff to us. They want everything secret so we are surprised and amazed when it does come out. In MO we pretty much knew everything there was to know about the game before it even came out. We were excited but when OWI made the final completion of the game they took a lot of things we were excited about out. So some of us were disappointed. OWI doesn't want to do that anymore and I don't blame them. Read this and it tells you to relax there is a new game in the works. It makes me happy because it sounds that OWI are really working hard and takeing their time with the new game. And we want that. We want something good right?

Alf: I would say we hope that the next game will be released at the end of 2003 but we don't know for sure. We want to make sure we get it right.

I think that the next game will be Hand of Odd. Mainly because of how DIFFERENT Alf keeps saying the next game will be and also because they don't call the next game Munch's Exoddus. If it was a Munch game I doubt they would keep the title secret.

Also, with XBox Live just having come out, I'm sure OWI would want to make a game with online features.

I think it'll be Hand Of Odd also (if its still named that). My guess is that OWI wants to take a quick break from the Oddworld Quintology and show unknowing fans that they have other plans instore than just one series.

Do we even know if Hand of Odd will even be a game? Last time I checked it was only a concept and that OWI scraped the idea.

I'm hoping for ME, because the story probably wouldn't be as deep in The Hand Odd. The story makes the game come to life.

Well, with the Hand Of Odd name thing, Id say that they oculd have gotten it from hand of NOD, but if you think about it it makes sense to call a strategy game something with a hand in the title, because what do you use to move the units around? Your hand (on the mouse, but youre still using your hand

). But thats just my theory, Im not sure if any of you got what I mean though coz I suck at explaining things.

The rumoured character Nod, was probably just a result of someone mishearing/reading Hand of Odd.

Well, I'm not really with you guys on this one. Cuz if Hand of Odd was just a fan theory based on some misheard words, then why do we have the HoO logo?

Hand of Odd is about us using the technology of Munch, enhancing upon it, and bringing it into the multiplayer world of gaming. How many players will be able to interact at one time is still yet to be determined. If we can get 8 players at one time for Hand of Odd we will be happy. It will be enough. If we can get more we will be ecstatic. Hand of Odd will not be an online community in the way that Everquest or Ultima Online are. But we do plan to take advantage of features like downloadable units that will help to keep the world fresh even after it’s been out there awhile. Our most important function will be speed. We'll take advantage of as much as we can until update rates become an issue. There as so many questions that relate to the multiplayer Internet capabilities that are yet to be answered technically, that we can't lock down to the degree that we would like yet.

No, Nod's Oddysee has been mentioned by an Inhabitant before, in an interview before the Oddworld Forums were founded. Stupidly, no one has been able to locate this interview, it's obviously buried in the junk yards of the Internet, or gone complety. But I and several other peeps have seen it, it is no misreading.

For me, Hand of Odd is such an obvious spoof of Hand of God, the expression.

Mac you misread what me and Xavier were saying. Neither of us questioned Hand of Odd... we just aren't sure about the validity of the rumor that a future game will be called Nod's Oddysee.
