Mad Gamespot costs money now!!

Gamespot costs money to view all of its content now!! First IGN, now Gamespot... GRRRRRR!! When IGN had blocked articles I would go to Gamespot and find a similar article, now I can't anymore because they are both charging money. I am very angry.

*sigh* The way of the internet I'm afraid. On one hand I can see why they do it, because these big sites take a lot of money to run. Internet advertising is not like it used to be, it doesn't really pay off anymore (probably because of annoying popup ads). It's either charge or go the way of sites like Daily Radar (i.e. cease to be).

But on the other hand, I don't like it and am just as annoyed as you are. Because I like to get information on my favorite games and view videos, and I don't want to be paying for something that was previously avalable for free. It also makes it tough when you run a fan site like Oddworld-Web, because if it is a site like IGN or Gamespot, they have previously had a lot of interviews or info. So therefore, you can't put news about it on your site for other, as people can't access it.

The only positive I do see for this, is hopefully some of the smaller Xbox and game sites will begin to recieve information instead.

I tried to download the images so i could keep them for safe keeping unfortunatley i got up to about 7 images when i went and did something stupid, i clicked on a link rather than type in the address myself. This means the Cookies logged me through the link and now i cant get anymore images...

So i'll be doing it all at school, where they have high speed satelite connection...hehehe

Yes, it is annoying, but so many people on the internet actually deserve it. Do you know why I think this is so?

"InsideTheWeb is a stupid service! Let's go somewhere else to messageboard-RP!" < I had notes like that littered all over my board in the time I had RPs on ITW.
Then ITW died (still dead) due to lack of money. Since it was against their ideals to burden the pages with even more popups/banners ads, they closed the boards down.
Now everyone I know says "Why did it happen? The place was so great to RP on!"
And it was, too, mind you. What really ticks me about this is that InsideTheWeb was free. So many people online cannot see the value of getting something for free. It's a precious gift, you shouldn't rant about what you get for 0$.

Though information sites going pay-only is a little sad. You get to listen to news on the radio/tv for more or less free, too (kinda less, admittedly).

*sigh* I'm glad the advertising prices online are slowly rising again. If they'd have kept dropping, the internet would have mostly died, something I was insanely afraid of (and am still afeard for)

I'm currently paying for my email service at another.com (very recommendable place, you get 15 email addys all to the same inbox, and the addys are highly customizable both before and after the @), because my email address 'i.is.another@yeah.co.uk' was too cool in my eyes to abandon to the void. *grins* I don't regret it, actually.

This is unfortunate as lots of good information comes from Gamespot on Oddworld.
