Yes, it is annoying, but so many people on the internet actually deserve it. Do you know why I think this is so?
"InsideTheWeb is a stupid service! Let's go somewhere else to messageboard-RP!" < I had notes like that littered all over my board in the time I had RPs on ITW.
Then ITW died (still dead) due to lack of money. Since it was against their ideals to burden the pages with even more popups/banners ads, they closed the boards down.
Now everyone I know says "Why did it happen? The place was so great to RP on!"
And it was, too, mind you. What really ticks me about this is that InsideTheWeb was free. So many people online
cannot see the value of getting something for free. It's a precious gift, you shouldn't rant about what you get for 0$.
Though information sites going pay-only is a little sad. You get to listen to news on the radio/tv for more or less free, too (kinda less, admittedly).
*sigh* I'm glad the advertising prices online are slowly rising again. If they'd have kept dropping, the internet would have mostly died, something I was insanely afraid of (and am still afeard for)
I'm currently paying for my email service at another.com (very recommendable place, you get 15 email addys all to the same inbox, and the addys are highly customizable both before and after the @), because my email address 'i.is.another@yeah.co.uk' was too cool in my eyes to abandon to the void. *grins* I don't regret it, actually.
