The following is an excerpt from an interview with Lorne Lanning. You can find it
here.
Ivan Trembow: What role will Abe play in Munch's Oddysee?
Lorne Lanning: Abe basically kidnaps Munch in the beginning, so Munch really hates Abe
for first half of the experience.
IT: What will the relationship be between Munch and Abe?
LL: Completely dysfunctional... until they learn how to get along. Munch
winds up in a wheelchair for a good part of the story, and during that time
Abe just pushes him around to where Abe wants to go, without concern for
how Munch feels. So Munch really resents Abe and doesn't hesitate to let
him know it.
Is it me, or did this
not happen in Munch's Oddysee?
I recall seeing Munch's leg bandaged up in a promotional picture or two, but as the game played, Munch never had so much as a bandaid. Also, while wheelchairs were available for quite a bit of the game, Munch was never really confined to one. Abe certainly didn't push him around, either.
I didn't sense any amount of antagonism between Munch or Abe. Heck, in the gamespeak they're pretty polite and/or concerned to/for each other. Abe calls Munch his buddy, cautions him not to get killed or blown up, etc. Munch says hello to Abe, suggests that they get going, and so on. I'll admit, in the good ending Munch could've been a bit nicer to Abe, but he wasn't in the least bit resentful or malicious towards him.
As for Abe kidnapping Munch... *snort* Right.
What do you guys think? Do you know why the game was changed from this? And didn't Mr. Lanning also mention that the queens would be introduced? The only mention of the Glukkon queen was made in the newspaper, and no pictures of her that I could remember were shown. What a gyp.
