Don't you just hate power supply problems? I've been having some today, and I have an interesting story behind what I did.
*Yawns* Today has been long.
It all started with my friend Mactus. He said that at 3:24pm the power started going on and off at his house. Stangely, it didn't affect me at all, which is strange because we live very close to each other. Anyway, my, my mum, Mactus and the goat went for a walk to visit someone, so I left my computer on standby before going out. (We had a small adventure, but it's not as interesting as this story) Anyway, on the way back, when passing my sisters, she reported that the lights in her house where very dim, and only the lights worked, nothing else. Fearing the worse for my computer, I ran back home, to find that there had been a power cut and the power had not come back on properly. All the lights were dim, and some lights didn't even work at all. Most appliences weren't working ethier. As for the computer, it was still switched on, having restarted after the power cut. Only the main fan was still on, and the hard drive was on, but there were no other signs of life. I switched it straight off, and phoned up a friend who is an expert at computers. He said that modern day computer can adjust to low power, and can still run like that, but at very low speed. He also said that there would be no permenant damage done to it, which put my worries to rest. Covering the computer up with a blanket, me and Mactus now had nothing to do, since nothing worked. After phoning up people, we were told that it was a local problem, and Power Supplies were funny in Hockley, Rochford and Hawkwell. Anyway, me and Mactus decided to take a walk around the local area. Now that was weird! House alarms were going off all over the place. Some houses and street lights were completely out. Others had half power. Some of them even had full power. But the weird thing about this is that areas of houses weren't the same. The power supply differences were totally random. . . Anyway, after walking around, I took Mactus back to his house. On the way back, I was about to go down my road to go home, when the whole street went black. Pitch black. Obviously, the electricity board were fixing the problem by then, so they had to turn the power out. But it was just so strange, and scary. FOrtunately, the moon was out and very bright, and it was still late dusk, so I could see where I was going. Some parts of my road were really dark, so it was a good thing I had my torch on me. Power was restored sometime later. . . It's been back on for three hours now, and it hasn't done much else but flicker slightly. . . I think it's all fixed now. But I still don't trust it fully yet. I'm taking a big gamble using my computer now.
Anyway, that was the story.
